Imagine A Planet

Imagine a Planet.
You look down on it, it is a desert planet, all and all. On its surface, countless miles of barren deserts of many kinds. Most of it uninhabitable to most forms of life. Only the hardiest lifeforms lead a slower life. If it's not desert
land, its lava-scared lands and active volcanos becoming the only mountains on this planet's surface. Then there is the singular huge ocean which resides in a massive divot in this planet. Along the line where the blue ocean meets the sandy deserts is the only place you'd see green on the planet.
You'll also see towns as well as cities! And not just starting out. These places are quite wealthy areas of nice homes and buildings. If there is a place anyone would want to live on the surface, it's here. It's near impossible to live out in the vast deserts. There might be a hand full of water holes that connect to the ocean while people can live by. More likely are mines and refineries. Large industrial areas where the only goal is to work. No matter if one worked down in the mines or in the surface refineries, it was all dirty work.
Imagine the planet as a whole now. Imagine being on it, perhaps on one of its deserts. Now you look up into the sky and see. There are floating islands. Yes, floating in the skies of this planet are floating landmasses of many sizes. The smaller sizes being about a city block. Some of the largest rivaling that of Australia. They all have one something in common. On their undersides, large crystals are seen. They have the power to be lifting all these landmasses and the cultures that live on them. Indeed on these floating islands is where most of life live.
From cultures that prefer to keep things easy. To islands that are dedicated to farming. Islands for the rich and islands for the poor. to large cities of all kinds. Many areas where if you didn't know, you wouldn't even have a clue that you were on a floating island. Literally could go your whole life without seeing an edge to the island you are on. However, go near the edges and you'll see some of the tech made due to living on floating islands. Airships are still around. Personal aircraft, even forms of flying cars and hoverbikes. All had to be made to visit the neighboring nations.
Now I'll build a picture. Imagine yourself looking out from one of these islands. The sun is setting, the sky is yellow going to red. You are looking at another island in the distance. The sun on the other side making you view of it, a silhouette. Below it is a glow of red hues as an active volcano is busy spilling lava onto the lands below. Around it, an industrial complex that is using the lavas heat to help produce materials to sell.
Such a sight may be a common thing, on the planet of Macwuar (Working name.)

Either that or Star Wars. Cloud City, Tatooine and Mustafar. And if there's only one big ocean on a high-temp planet, it probably would experience frequent hurricanes and/or electrical storms making that area resemble Kamino.
