As some one who lost his mate as well. I'm so sorry for your loss, Athus was a close friend. I remember when he passed and I was actually talking with my mate at the time. I was watching a tribute video some one had posted\, she and I both started crying together. If you ever want to talk, feel free to let me know. Take care Narse.

I've never met Athus,didn't have this fortune. But just like you said, even if things gets very hard, there's still someone, somewhere, that loves and support you in everything you done. I can't imagine to see such person so close and at the same time so...unreachable, we'll never be ready enough for such feeling. But for one thing I'm absolutely sure about: one day,whenever my dearests will make this travel too, I'll see all of them again, and we'll have a great laugh.

Athus might passed away,but it's still with us, and we're gonna see him again. It's just a matter of time.

I always think about Athus and other dragons who left us too soon. I make sure to look at their profile and art every year or two to keep their memory fresh. I remember getting to be in a birthday piece that KevinDragon was making and Athus was among us. It’s something frozen in time, many of us together in a happy picture, even if I may not look like I used to in that image. It’s nice to have shared space with him there.

I can imagine it might be very hard to think about but have you considered making new personal art of Athus?

Take care, Narse. I joined the fandom a few month after it happened and I still remember today how older furries than myself used to talk about it. It has marked my beginnings in my favorite community.

I never got the chance to meet him, but I've met many who were friends with him and touched by him in life, and still mourn him to this day. I know it can't be easy to deal with, and I have no clue the pain you've gone through, but I hope that continues to bring some comfort going forward. The sheer amount of folks that loved him and still cherish his memory.

I still remember I was half drunk mowing my lawn when I got the news of Athus. I never knew him personally but his art was always a comfort to turn to when times got tough. A mug raised for a worthy one. Happy Athus day.

I never knew him, but I'm sad too that he's not here.

Been thinking about this since we met up last month. I was unfortunately not old enough to know much about him at the time. I'm not even sure if he had already passed by the time I discovered him. But I've seen the impact he had on others and deeply feel for you especially. I would've loved to have met him. But I'm glad to see you kicking and doing well, and although the grief and pain is still there, you're far from alone.

I still remember the original journal you posted back in 2011. I never got a chance to know him, but I'm sure he was a wonderful person just like you, Narse. May his memory live on through this day and beyond.

It's a big shame that such great person and awsome artist is not among us anymore... From all the dragon art I had faved thru all of the time, a bigger most of it was drawn by Athus and I haven't seen all of them yet because of it's amount ;-p ). He should be remembered and helped to live in memories by promoting all values and anything he hed left us of his legacy

I knew Athus from 20+ years back since the Draconic IRC days, and we were working together on some things for BD just before he passed.
He was a great sort, and I know he's in a good place.

his arts were my gateway to furry fandom, and I am grateful for it

The persistent profiles are comforting for me, given all the friends we make without meeting them in person.

A person isn't considered truly dead until forgotten. So they'll live on in your heart.

I've always had the deepest of sympathies for you Narse for going through what nobody should ever have to. It's a chilling reminder that every single day is a gift, and that tomorrow is never guaranteed. The unfairness of it all is the worst.

One of my happiest moments ever was finding the furry fandom in 2003 and discovering that there were others like me. Athus and the beautiful dragons he would draw was one of the first furry dragon artists I ever found. His art productions gave me great joy!

His name is also on the shipping label of the first BD product I ordered as well. I still have it. I unfortunately never got the privilege of meeting him in person. I will never forget him.

Keep at it, Narse. It's hard when you lose someone you have lost.

Makes me sad I joined the fandom when I did, years after he was already departed. On the other hand, he still gives me something to look up to, seeing how much people still remember and miss him and so on, even 10 years later.

I didn't know him. But many furs around me did and were shaken, genuinely shaken, when news of his passing came out. So, I know he will be thought about by those whose lives he touched.

I didn’t know him, but his art is literally the first I saw about fantasy creatures being lewd and I still have his website saved in the favourites. Somehow it’s because of him that I’m here now, and that I knew all the wonderful friends I have. He will never be forgotten :)

Ad Memorium, it has been a decade, that is quite something, and to think how much time is past since then back in the days of the Butterfly Dragon, Cannot say he is forgotten on me,, just a better sense of appreciation to what e contributed to this fandom as a whole. and you too for keeping his legacy strong.

I may not known Athus but I can tell he was a good person a soul. All I can say is he may be gone but he isn’t forgotten. He lives on in your heart and soul. He lives on for ever and ever in all our hearts. My heart goes out to you and him.

Yes, I am a relatively young member of the community and missed a lot, but I looked at his work, his participation in the community and how fate dealt with him. I'm sure he was glad that although his path was not long, he knew amazing friends, for example, like you,

Time really has flown by. I do remember Athus fondly those many years ago. The one thing I always liked was his positive attitude. He always seemed so nice. I could see it in his journals or in his text of the images that he posted. I've had very limited interactions with Athus. Maybe a few replies to my comments here on FA or sometimes on Kaa's Yahoo group but that was really it. I remember the two images you uploaded, Narse, that got Athus' attention when you two started speaking on Kaa's Starhunter's yahoo group. I also remember you two made your own yahoo group called tailhole (Or was it undertail? I think it was tailhole) That mostly went idle.

I was disappointed the day I heard about the accident. I didn't know Athus on a personal level but I was still saddened. I doubt he really even knew of my existence as I was more of a watcher with a default FA icon, but I still appreciated the nice and friendly vibes he gave off. I still view him as one of the great grandfathers that paved the way of the early years of the scalie part of the fandom.

Yeah, Sad thing is that I didn't even know Athus passed away until 5 years ago. I think I only talked to them briefly back when I tried to interact with any fur I could since I wanted to befriend everyone. Wish I was able to interact with them more since they seemed really nice.

I never knew this happened. I'm still struggling to get even just a single word from you yet I hear this. Actually, 10 years ago I was 17... Wait just started to get into graphic designs back then and a bit of art anatomy, dang that really does make a big picture on even myself of reading this. Still. I'm deeply sorry to hear of this from you, Narse. I know you're an incredibly busy artist with many amazing talents, way more than I feel what most of my college teachers can achieve. Still, he's very proud of you as to how far you've come since then. Ten years is a long time, but don't let yourself never find a new lover if that desire ever comes one day. Keep on posting! Hoping someday to get even a single hello from you one day or... Anything really. Either way, hope things are alright and best of wishes!

The time passess so fast, but it's great that he's whole time remembered

i have see yesterday a athus picture and look, over 10 years ago.. the time is running and iam now 32 years old . I have see the new post from athus and its sooo long ago, its bring me to cry this young soul. Athus you will live on in our hearts . I miss this Dragon :(

I never knew him. I did know of him - his art was what helped me understand what I was, and discover that there was a place for things like me. His work inspired me to draw, and though I never got good at it, the backgrounds I wrote for my meager scrawlings led me to my calling in writing. Though it's taken me some considerable time to foray into this community proper, I remember hearing the news at the time and being so sorry, for him, for you. Even now I stumble upon his prints left on this community. So I would like to say that there are many, many furred, scaled, and feathered souls like me that could not and cannot speak here who were nonetheless touched by what he made and left to this world.

Ten years but still never forget. He is always remembered as one of my greatest inspirations to become the dragon artist back in 2006.
May Dragon God bring him peace.

I have lost so many.... humans and non humans. The first was when I was a child before I was 10 I think, its been so long I don't remember how old I was. I was given a kitten that was mine and mine alone and not a family pet but my pet. King did not survive long enough to become a cat. My first human was my grandfather almost exactly on my 21sh birthday. What was to be my most important birthday in my life it became just an afterthought and not much of one at that to my family. In 2007 I lost my first boyfriend, we where together for almost exactly two years when he was taken from me. I lost my parents in their mid 60s. They had so many plans after retiring and never had the chance to do any of them. The most resent was Xena my current boyfriends dog she died 26 hours ago. There is a long list of more that I have lost human and non human.

The curse of living a long life is knowing that many will go before you and you will miss them all.
