Tears of the Kingdom and thoughts :) "Spoiler free"
I need to write more journals. I am really bad about talking about things going on in my life :P
Anyway, I just finished the new Zelda game a few days ago and the ending has been sticking with me. I will try to keep this spoiler free, so I do apologize if I let anything slip.
When it comes to movies, games, and just about any other kind of media out there, everyone has their own way of determining what they like and don't. For me, its when there is a "moment" that makes me want to go back and experience that media again. In the case of movies, its things like the docking scene in Interstellar, or the canyon battle in Mad Max fury road. In games its like the water escape from Ori and the blind forest, or the ending moments of Nier automata. When there is a very impactful cinematic moment that pairs perfectly with the music to leave a lasting impression on my brain. Something that calls for me to go back and experience that moment again.
When breath of the wild came out years ago I really enjoyed the game. It was annoying having weapons that broke, but the exploration and world really kept me interested. When the game was over I felt a little, unsatisfied. It was by no means a bad game, but the final boss was 'lackluster." I remember a year or so ago thinking, I wanna go back and play that game again cause it was fun. But I never got around to it. I can honestly say that tears of the kingdom has reached the heights that the franchise deserves and fixes any complaints I had with breath of the wild.
I like to think I am not a Nintendo fan boy, but honestly even if I am it doesn't change the fact that this game has left an impact in my life. The final boss paired with the music and then just when you think its over, they throw one last little gameplay moment at you to seal the deal. All of it was spectacular and I never expected it to really hit me the way it did. I remember playing skyward sword back when it first came out. It was right after Athus passed away, so I was in a very emotionally raw state at the time. I remember the game kind of being a comfort each night to try and forget what was happening around me. At the end of the day I look back at that game and know it wasn't perfect. There were a lot of things that I hated about the game. Fi was one of them. However, even to this day, I still will find myself watching that final cutscene with her, when she goes to sleep in the master sword at the end of the adventure. Thanking Link for all he did. That moment, paired with the theme music.....it is something that I will never forget.
Tears of the kingdom achieves that same feeling with its ending, but also has gameplay that makes me crave playing it again. Needless to say, I highly recommend the game. Now that I have finished it, I almost find myself feeling a little sad that it is over. 150 + hours later I look back with fond memories of the experience, thinking what will be next for the franchise. The music from the game will be what fuels my creativity for quite awhile going forward.
Either way I am back to working on art again. Between the resident evil 4 remake and then tears of the kingdom there was a solid two months there where I was getting no art done :P I got a big dragon painting I am finishing up now. I would have had it done a month ago had it not been for Zelda :P Once that is finally done I got some stuff I wanna do of some of the characters from Tears of the kingdom. Though I also wanted to ask all of you what you think would be fun to draw next :) Rule 34 is always on my mind, so things like Stitch, Guilmon, and Jake Long are always at the top of my list, but I love hearing what the community thinks. Please leave suggestions and ideas below. Also leave your thoughts on tears of the kingdom, try not to post spoilers.
As always, thank you so much everyone for the tremendous support. This fandom has always been amazing to me and I wanna be amazing for it :)

Story driven games are more like books than movies to me. The universe sucks you in, away from the real world for a while, in a way you can't get just passively watching. It's been a long while since a game could do that to me. As I've gotten older I think cynicism made a wall against that level of immersion. When something breaks through, it can hit even harder than when I was young. Like the writer has pulled at all the threads across many years and made them dance together.
Maybe it's time to pick the Switch back up.
Best to ya Narse :>

I stumbled upon my first geoglyph and had the full story spoiled to me because it was not done "this is the player's first one, play the first one" like it should have been, so erm, WHOOPS :-P.
But it's loads of fun!
Oh, gonna be doing art again , are you?
*laughs in FF16 ..and diablo 4...and system shock remake....*
I gotta play more Zelda myself, then probably swap over to FF16, ahaha X_X gosh what a busy release schedule!
*laughs* i know, FFXVI is really tempting, but I gotta resist that temptation and gets some art done first :P Good luck with all the gaming
Speaking of good luck, I managed to stumble upon the Lynel-only colosseum.
With 15 hearts.
6 of which were Gloomed up.
And barely any level 2 armor.
That was a FUN 45 minutes of Dark Souls style 2 mistakes and you're out gameplay, hahah!
The story that is there has neat elements to it but the geoglyph clumsery didn't really "ruin" it for me, it just kind of felt oddly out of place meta to suddenly be wink wink nudge nudged at with no other knowledge , y'know ?
Speaking of which, I need to shoot me some light dragon bits.
so awesome ^^
As for r34 stuff idk im not good with that but i guess Smaug? Maybe some MTG dragons like Ugin, Nicol Bolas, or Niv-Mizzet? Would also be cool to see you revisit SkyShadow's glaive wyverns again idk if you would be up for that.
The memories that worked up to it. The evil twist one could've seen coming if you'd think just a little bit deeper, but still makes everything insanely awesome. And finally the end result which I had deeply been hoping for as it had affected me pretty early on in the game. The fact that it was tangible and you could see and visit just had me going there several times throughout the game.
Hope this is both understandable and spoiler free, lmao.
The one tiny thing that really ached me is that I have a hard feeling that a lot of a certain sister got left on the cutting room floor. Severely underused and underdeveloped for what seemed to be a really important and super interesting character.
I know it's not much down your alley, but if there's one character I'd like to see more of, it's her.
As for art I love dragons, lamia and other reptilian species although I will always have a soft spot for chakats since they were my introduction to the community, canines and horses.
It's reinvigorated my love for games I previously didn't care much for due to how it forces creativity which then in turn leeched that ideal into said games.
I love almost every character every event and the world is so fun to explore that I just have to take moments to let it all bake into my mind.
I love the three different worlds you can explore each handling traversal and gameplay differently.
The first time I got to a temple I was already amazed at the pre temple stuff that I thought it was the temple. Then when I actually entered the wind temple properly I was shocked that it was twice as big.
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts Narse your ideals and art always inspires and makes my day due to the passion and care you put into them!
And when it comes to art I'd love to see more Rito they need so much more love. Those fluffy sweethearts deserve some fun after their stressful time during the game.
And again thank you for sharing !
As for art of the game? Given the new ToS changes upcoming i would avoid quite a few characters like tulin or bokoblins on FA until either they revert the changes and unban the people they went after with a full staff purge for doing it or just doing so elsewhere to be safe. I wouldnt mind seeing some of the lizalfos with someone in the mask disguise or some zora/rito/zonai characters getting attention.
But boy do I feel the same way about Skyward Sword. That game was so special to me. I hope to replay it someday! But like... actually. Not just say it lol.
sounds amazing - always love to see these from you^^
However, arent these characters banned from FA after Juli 1st?
However, I utterly HATED the ending. Without going into specific detail, one's narrative should not be sacrificed for something that wasn't earned, or that invalidates the choices and sacrifices the story's characters' make for the sake of a happy ending. My opinion, feel free to disregard. I still enjoyed the game, and I'm even going through and doing a bunch of side stuff I skipped (like various armor sets and getting the Sage's Wills).
