It really depends I guess. I seem to get it most times, but I also fursuit and get lots of hugs from lots of people, soooo yeeeaah. xD Whatever I have is mild though. I know it's not covid for sure because the con required vaccinations, and I've already had the virus. This just feels like a weak fever. I could just over strained myself too. I worked an 8 day straight before the con, then fursuited the whole time which honestly feels no different than working. xD I've definitely felt like this after pushing myself too hard, and I know from experience overworking and/or heat stroke feels a lot like being sick because it activates your immune system in similar ways. It's own way of telling to you HAY! You need to stop for awhile. xP
While it would be nice to think that people that are feeling a bit under the weather would stay at home, life will happen. And, for many, these events are vacations and/or ways of life. So it is understandable that they don't want to let a little cold force them to cancel. And with so many people coming together in small spaces, the spread of germs is just downright hard to avoid. Other factors tend to happen, too. Travel may be a bit out of the norm and might affect the body's immunity a bit.
Basically, cons are a lot of fun and shouldn't be missed out on. Alas, 'Con Crud' is just a downside risk that we all must take to attend such gatherings. To me, Covid is just a bit too much to gamble on. But, many would not agree.
