Im conflicted, seeking input.

So, this is probably just a personal issue with me, I'm sure others don't have this issue and some might.
But I hate Pokemon OCs. When it comes to making Pokemon content, I feel like instead of using some OC that is an odd colour that is neither the base or shiny palette, it's just a waste and whatever art done would stand to be instantly better with the original pokemon, personality aside. When it comes to artists and their own OC, I don't say anything because an artist has every right to draw their own characters, regardless. My main issue is with those who seem to have infinite money to commission their Pokemon OC in everything they pay for because, having an original idea that doesn't involve them is impossible for some reason. But I'm ranting.
The conflict I have is that if anyone has read my recent story, having to create names and personalities for a couple of Pokemon has caused me to keep adding on to them, including a couple of accessories.
Now before this, when it was just a name and personality, I came up with some thoughts of commissioning certain scenes or even working my way up to draw them myself but the Pokemon themselves are basically just the Pokemon, meaning I didn't really see them as OCs, just basic Pokemon I used for my story. As I mentioned, I've begun adding to them and given them particular accessories that's specific to them individually.
As minimal as it is and even I don't think I'd mind an OC if it really was just a Pokemon with one tiny accessory, but as I'm building on these characters, I'm starting to feel like they're technically becoming Pokemon OCs, which contradicts my own views on them.
Now I'll never go as far as making something that is a completely different colour, wears a specific full body outfit every time or is a fusion of Pokemon, but would a Pokemon with just a collar or necklace, really be considered an OC, or is more just a character as it's not exactly original, then again most Pokemon OCs aren't.

I feel like minimal alterations can still be looked at as just the pokemon in general but I guess its more about if I have a limit to the alterations to a Pokemon before it goes to far for me to enjoy, personally.
I don't really understand your complain.
In the first part you mention lack of originality is a problem but your excuse for your pokemon characters not being OCs because they are not unique enough. And that is fine?
Most people do try to make their pokemon OCs unique that is why they are different color and have accessories aside from personality. They pick a species and try to make it unique to became their own characters. That is what OCs are.
There are some lazy of course, which is very annoying in my opinion. Why is this different form any husky anthro fursona with diferent color palette? Or any other art that constantly feature the same character?
The pokemon you created are OCs. If they have at least one accesory, or if they have a name, or a personality, they are OCs. Sometimes it is enough if a story focuses on them specifically, but not always.
The only non OC characters are canon characters or sometimes animals when used as props. (can be pokemons I admit that as most of them are technically their world's animals if you don't count the mystery dungeons).
Why do you give an artist a pass on what they draw on originality but it is bad if someone who can't draw but love their character pay for an artist to draw them?
An artist has more option to be original in their creations. Why is it fine to an artist to be unoriginal and not for someone who cant even draw. I don't understand this.
If your problem is with a constant post of the same stuff. I can understand that. It can get very annoying if you don't care about the topic or characters.
Hope I didn't come across as rude.
Maybe i Just misunderstand your problem with pokemon oc. I hope you can clarify in a response.
The difference between a regular furry OC and a Pokemon is that, to me, a pokemon is basically already an OC of an existing animal (or inanimate object) already. So making a Pokemon OC is kinda like making and OC of an OC. Now with Pokemon, not all of them are good so I ignore what I don't like, as I would for just the regular bad OCs that I come across on any site but changing up a Pokemon to make it completely different is a bit more noticeable and I don't much care for.
As for the originality, basically like I said above, the Pokemon themselves are already original, at least most are. Adding on to them doesnt mean much. It's kinda like when someone creates a brand new, fictional creature, all on their own. But people like it so much they create their own versions of it. They take something original, change a bit and claim it as theirs. With mine, I'm trying to keep them simple to the sense that, say hypothetically I do commission an idea or draw myself if I improve, if someone was to see it, their first thought shouldn't be, oh it's an OC, really I want them to pass as just the pokemon themselves rather than OCs.
Most characters, not just Pokemon or OCs but literally any kind of cartoony character is created from animals or people or something that already exist in the norm. So when it comes to say, an anthro husky, it just someone taking something basic and creating. So I don't really care, even if it is super ugly, so long as it's not spammed everywhere that I have to go out of my way just to avoid it. Thats basically the biggest issue I have with Pokemon OCs, the worst ones spam them everywhere and I need to go out of my way to avoid them which is probably why I just associate Pokemon OCs with frustration.
I give artists a pass on OCs because they're putting the work in to make the art that they show up in. Now just because they do that, doesn't mean I wont hate it, I will but I wont really get ticked unless they start spamming it non stop. Thats the difference between an artist and a commissioner. The artist could spam their OCs all they want, but they need to draw them, one at a time. Meanwhile, a commissioner can have 5 different artists working on the exact same pic and have them all spammed out at roughly the same time. Trust me, I've seen it. I'm sure it happens from artists but in my experience, I've seen commissioners spam more OC work than artists themselves. Like I said, I can't stop them from paying from their infinite cash to commission stuff, but really spamming uploads, especially when the artist has already uploaded, you don't need to upload as well so people have to see your terrible idea twice while browsing.
Like I said, its a personal issue but to me, if I see an upload with Pokemon, I always think, would this be better with just the basic of the Pokemon? Answer is just about always yes but how much better. Some people put proper effort into designing their OC and they do look nice sometimes so when I see it, I don't mind it but regardless if its an OC or a basic Pokemon, it would always come down to personal preference to anyway.
I think I've just kinda built up a negative view towards Pokemon OCs in general as they stand out more than normal furry OCs as the whole site is full of them, its easy to tune out but Pokemon being specific characters stand out more and catch my eye. That's why it throws me off cuz I feel like I'm creating something I have been talking crap about so I'm not sure if I'm just contradicting myself or maybe there's more to why I don't like Pokemon OCs. Maybe there's just a limit to changes and I'm actually just ok with a name, personality and a necklace whilst the notable ones are usually all that plus a full body outfit that never changes, an altered design to the Pokemon, a colour swap and just the constant lack of imagination to constantly pair their OC with other characters that have nothing to do with them.
I don't mind taking a character from one thing and involving another character from another. I've commissioned a few like that myself. But like you said, you can understand the constant post of the same stuff as well as lazy design. When I see someone like that, I build up a mild hatred towards them that grows as they continue. Doing things like commissioning a particular character, especially one that lacks much content, but throwing their OC in there, I'm gonna get more annoyed. I can't do anything about it, I know that but doesn't mean its any less annoying. Could be said about OCs in general but, I don't know. It stands out more with Pokemon.
Not everyone can be an artist, so not everyone can put in the work.
But i agree that most of these are really annoying. I can fully understand your hatred for pokemon OCs.
When writing, I always ask myself "is this good for the character and story?" Ask yourself this question and see if you still feel conflicted.
Regardless, I do kind of get where you're coming from, as I know some things annoy me to see in artworks, especially when done in certain ways. Too many repeated identical textures(Like bumps on a belly to represent prey inside it), activates something inside me that's like the fear of holes, and it just bothers me to see it, and you find so many who do just that. I understand why, it's easy to make it repeat, but it just makes my skin crawl.
I know that's different than being bugged by the OC thing, but I think in general, it's the same idea. You see something that would otherwise be enjoyable, but it just hits in the wrong way, and ruins it for you. Of course, it is, as they say, c'est la vie. Such is life. It is up to them to determine what works for them, and they're getting the stuff for themselves, not for others. We merely observe.
I will come up with ideas involving, maybe some unique characters that are rare to find, maybe mixing characters from two different shows/movies/other medias who would have no connection in anyway. In my head, if any random person can see this and think, damn I like this, it becomes more appealing to me.
I get my OCs every now and then if something works specifically for them, but I only do it for the few ideas I get, otherwise, actual characters will always be my go to, especially if I'm in a mood for particular characters
