I am absolutely over the battle pass crap.
It used to be a decent idea in order to get people to play for rewards but now its a paid piece of shit that expects you to pay nearly monthly for and they punish you if you dont.
Level up? heres a shitty reward, look what you could get if you paid though.
Or else
Level up? you guy nothing but you would unlock this if you paid for it.
Halo MCC did it perfectly. No pay walls, just rewards unlocked for playing the game, more time played, more rewards unlocked
even Fall guys did it right, although i have a feeling if you missed a season, you wouldnt be able to go back and unlock those rewards which is a step down from MCC.
Fortnite, COD, so many app games now, they all have a pay wall and fuck every single one of them.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. With Fartnite it felt somewhat appropriate, since it fit the playstyle, but trying to force it on other games just feels like a weak attempt to cash in.

The fall of one insidious monetary scheme brings rise to another. From season passes, to loot boxes, and now to the Battle Pass, and it's all because making enough money isn't enough for the AAA Industry. They want all of it. One of the many reasons why so many, myself included, are quick to disavow free-market capitalism.

To be honest I don’t think sometimes these paywalls are not worth it. Like the stock in tf2 is mostly strong as an example and you could still be a good player without items, and in black ops 2 for example other weapons that are not from the dlc are still strong as well. Sometimes I think these paywalls are most of the time not worth it. Stock weapons always put weights the dlc ones.
