I wish I knew...

Of how deep a hole I would dig myself into when I started playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends at work. I have lost count of how much I have spent on figurines, books, and dice! Oh so many dice! And the board games, books of map tiles, freaking dice towers (which I will say are actually freaking awesome), and token tins and spell cards, and Magic the Gathering cards which is another hole I fell into as well thanks to my nephew.
I played MTG around 10 or so years ago and had a few decks that I found when doing some house cleaning. One that was a red/white theme and the other a black/blue one. My young nephew who was visiting at the time and who I got into DnD and practice being a DM with games with him and my nieces (it's fun being the BBEG btw) wanted to learn how to play, so I showed him.
Little runt beat my ass 14 out of 15 games! So he got hooked and I took him along to the Game Shop where I usually do my DnD sessions. Luck would have that they were doing a sale and I not only got him, and myself, 500 cards each (100 each of the 5 colors, half of those being their respective land cards) but I got him the Arena starter set and one for myself as well after being told they had codes to use on the mobile game.
I have now bought 10 different card cases with 1000 plastic card sleeves, several D20 life counter dice, creature tokens, and two game mats. I have not yet bought a Commander deck yet, but may in the future. I have already spent $20 on the mobile game, something I didn't expect to spend anything on, because I have put so much time playing it on my breaks at work. I still get my butt handed to me 9 out of 10 times but getting those wins feels so good. I am trying to collect as much as the Forgotten Realms themed cards as I can, because those are the decks kicking my butt the most. Though now it's werewolves and vampires that are whooping my ass now.
All in all, I think it is safe to assume the following.
I am addicted to not only Dungeons and Dragons, but Magic the Gathering as well. And oddly enough, I am happy. Sure I may spend more than I intended, but playing with not only my family but my coworkers and even complete strangers, it is something I look forward to each week now. I may not know all the lore, or all the rules, or even be a good role player. But I haven't had this much enjoyment in such a long time. I wished I learned about it earlier. Maybe I wouldn't have ended up as screwed up as I am now.
Oh maybe it'd screw me up even more. I do have fun doing horrible things to my family as the BBEG during our games. ^_^
Since we're on the subject I have been watching something that have brought me much enjoyment.
Adventure is Nigh! While not as famous as Critical Role, I at least find it more enjoyable to listen to, mostly because of Dabberella.
Adventure is Nigh! The Jade Homunculus Ep1
Ep 2
Ep 3
It's almost as enjoyable as Stuff of Legends
Till next time...*rolls*...a freaking 1 again...

FA+

Although with how cold it's gotten lately, I may use the cloak more often.
I'm more worried about buying alot of Magic cards and finding out they are banned by the time I figure out a good deck. -_-;
Everyone loved playing with the dice tower I bought a second one. ^_^ Gives us Plinko vibes.
Don't think I will buy any more unless I buy that pound of random dice I've seen but I have been resisting the "Ooh, shiny!" temptation so far...at least until I bought more figurines. I do want the giant plush D20 that has the internal pouch though. I wanna throw it at the players when they get a 1. ^_^
But yeah, I got so many dice. I keep the fancy bag ones in this tiny treasure chest I bought. They are my Precious.
12 sets of the basic seven polyhedral dice. Opaque yellow x2 (anytime some game promotion gives out free dice I wind up the yellow ones, I've given away three other sets), crystal clear, crystal blue, glow in the dark, opaque grey, pink coral colored, mixed color opaque set from Top Secret S.I., mottled green-grey, opaque black, post apocalypse style blue, and an opaque mottled green-red-brown set.
5 of what I call "deluxe sets" of dice which consist of 2d4 6d6 2d8 2d10, 2d12 and 2d20's in crystal blue, crystal green, crystal dark blue, crystal yellow (nicknamed the piss dice for their color) and a very shiney-pretty set of glittered-crystal with a swirly-blend of blue and purple.
And that is just what I can find right off hand, I probably have a few more 7-sets and a couple of 12-count and 36-count bricks of d6's somewhere around the house.
Shame they discontinued the premade ones and are going to customizable ones on runners you have to put together soon. I need to get what I can.
Yeah, those big ones are expensive and look complex to put together. I just use the boss monster figures that come in the board games.
I have no idea what you're talking about <w>
I'm glad I kept my old decks from over a decade ago, I can still use them now.
