The very thought of showing gratitude to the man that had abused him in his youth was repulsive to him, but, Alder was the Crowned Prince of his kingdom, so he knew that there were times, for the good of his country, that he would have to put aside his own feelings and speak not as a man, but as a prince.

“I appreciate you giving me this responsibility.” he said, bitterly.

Avalon sighed. At least it was better than silence. It would have to do, for now. “If you need any help, please call on your father and me for assistance.”

Once again, the young prince nodded his understanding. “Thank you.” he said, simply.

With the matter left in good hands, Avalon placed her hand on her mate’s back as he did the same to her. She rested her head on his shoulder and the two started off, once again. Alder watched them leave, a strange feeling whispering inside of him. He wasn’t sure what it was, but now was not the time to analyze or even acknowledge it.

“Alright you two,” he said to his brothers, “let’s put our heads together and solve this problem.”
