December already!?

Hello all,
Has been a while since there has been any update on things with me. I'm sorry for such, but wanted to see how things are with everyone and also give a bit of an update.
Where I am, there is construction going on, so things are progressing, but the small cottage I'm in is mostly done. No running water, but I've been able to get by. There is heat, insulation, power, internet and other necessities, so with winter coming and snow falling, the most needed things are taken care of. Running water would be nice, but a wet fall mixed with days of frozen ground towards the end made digging a drainage area impossible, so work is shifting elsewhere. There is a barn erected and now the garage is being worked on and presently looots of drywall is going up. All the winterization steps is done, as best we all know... so there shouldn't be any surprises, like there were last year with a water main bursting in January!
Beyond that, I've started to take flying lessons as well and should be soloing this week or next. It's been quite a trip with a lot to learn but the vast majority of it is just being familiar with a new vehicle; however, I can attest that the biggest realization came to me fairly early on in realizing that you really need to have a good flow of things, because you can't pull over, you must always maintain speed. It really seems like a very simple thing, but until it's experienced on being rushed for something and having to push through it, you may have a hard time really understanding it. While it is somewhat similar to deadlines on projects and the like, there are still times there where you can just stop and take a few moments to take a few breaths. It is possible to do the same in flying, but then you'll be extending what you're doing and it will be pretty visible that something wrong is happening.
While I'm still learning, making mistakes, correcting those and learning additional new systems, learning to fly has been a great experience so far and certainly not for everyone. Price of it is one consideration, but also a use for such. Sometimes you may just want to be able to do something and there are certainly less expensive things to learn and do. Just getting a private pilot license will probably end up being $7,500-15,000 for most people and then when you have that, you'll likely still be renting a plane at 100-200 an hour for most light beginner aircraft. I can't say I know exactly where the future is with such, but doors are certainly opening from it all and that is exciting! Though I still keep thinking that many other things are far less expensive (Full gear with season's pass at a ski resort is probably no more than $2,500). And with that said, I do have a season's pass for the first time and will be replacing my 17 year old snowboard this year too!
That's pretty much the abbreviated update. Certainly more has happened, but the most important things are there. How about yourself? Are you pushing yourself to learn anything new or have any fun adventures or goals set forth for yourself? I know a PPL certainly wasn't on any New Year's Resolution for myself. Much joy to everyone~
