L.A. has gone completely insane criminalizing homelessness instead of actually dealing with it.

Oakland and S.F. have just decided to throw cops and money at a falsely hyped up panic about criminal threats, with their mayors making ridiculous fear-hyping speeches. This in spite of the fact that most of the crime statistics have actually been trending down. If cops were really the answer their conviction and clearance rates would be better. If they actually deployed the cops that are already there with a little more intelligence, they wouldn't need more of them.

And don't even get me started about dealing with the things that are the reasons that people are driven to crime in the first place...

Truly this country has become quite the shitshow. :( Medical debt, educational debt, and it's a criminal offense to be homeless. Whoever says this country is first world needs to have a reality check.

It's quite amazing really how coprorately owned commerical media can control the narrative without any fact checking these days. I listened to publicly funded radio for half a decade and was amazed at how different the information coming from it was.

Its simply really, if there was a desire for the homeless to be housed and for people to obtain the necessities to live comfortably it would have happened. Instead we live in a reality where those that are in control stay in control by creating a system of hierarchy and oppression, and effectivly control it through very expensive brainwashing and propaganda.

I wish I had the answers in how to change it, but it surely doesn't seem to be in running for office, unless you desire to become apart of that same wicked system.

The sad thing is, all of this stuff was put into the California constitution to stop the wealthy from using the state and federal government to overrule the will of the local communities. But they didn't do anything to stop the wealthy from using advertising to co-opt the will of local communities and make the state basically ungovernable.

A major key to understanding is knowing what the actual definition of "liberal" is. It's not inherently progressive. It's simply short for "flexible centrist." CA found a balance where they could attract the fruits of big business without allowing aggressive conservative values to make business hard for them. on one hand, people like me had a safe state where we don't have to worry about religious oppressions, but on the other hand, we are second class to the business men who the state ultimately makes bank on.

Oh yeah, I totally get it, it's just frustrating. I lived in LA for about a year, and on the one hand it was great not having to worry about encountering open hostility in public, (I'm in SC now and that's a bit more of a concern,) but on the other hand the infrastructure and economy is just so incredibly broken and prohibitive. I know that's not even remotely the fault of 99.9% of the people living there, and I know it's a huge complicated problem that can't be solved immediately, but I'm still left with such a sour taste now whenever I see some CA government official milking the state's socially progressive reputation while overseeing systems that are completely inhospitable to so many of the people they claim to be friendly towards.

I did read the second part of this journal and I do know how you feel. I've been rejected all my life just for being who I am. I lived alone on the streets for 9 years. I lost count how many religious people tried to "help" me get off the streets just to try to convert me into a mindless disciple. I'd rather be poor than be a pawn. I only got off the streets in 2004. I have a brother who I didn't know until 2018 who lives 15 minutes away from me who hasn't talked to me in over a year because he's a judgemental prick.

I'm glad you where able to snap into a livable state, but that doesn't change the realness of fucked I'd be to just ditch everything I've done out here to try and find a home out there. We are talking about a whole life and not to mention someone who needs medications that the government controls and doesn't just let anyone have. The very same democrat politicians that were constantly talking about needing to fix the homeless problem then went out of their way to not only deny him and his fundraising from buying the abandoned lots and parking lots but then confiscated all the trailers and put them in a warehouse and fined him!

Then those same democrats pushed for a tax increase in the realm of BILLIONS to "fight homelessness" and instead took the money and put it in a general slush fund and continued to do jack shit as always... Oh they'll "Form a committee" or "Fund A Study" all day long but will never actually do anything till they need to pander in a voting year again.

Meanwhile these same establishment assholes continue to allow foreign money manipulating countries and companies like "Blackrock/Blackstone" to buy up tons of houses all over the USA/Canada to the point that some places, cities and towns, are 80% empty and the few houses left skyrocket in price, because it enriches their own portfolios. It's like how Nancy Pelosi drunkenly defended buying stocks in a sector she can legally regulate or deregulate at any time to make herself millions more at any moment she wants. No one is going to defund the police. It's an unrealistic proposition. No one is going to do a dangerous thankless job like being a police officer if they aren't being paid for the job or properly equipped to do that job.
