As far as prices go, it's always merely the question of demand and has nothing whatsoever to do with one's supposed quality of art or anything else. You can call Miles out for a good couple things, but he'd be a complete idiot if he didn't roll with them when there's people willing to pay him as much every time. Terry_Grimm, an amazing artist himself, had once a great comment on this matter, and said out loud what everyone is thinking silently - that he'd take that kind of money without second thought. Prices are never a basis for judging someone's art, work or product if there's a clear market for it; I personally think it's most often the so very common sign of hidden jealousy on someone's success kicking in.
That being said, I'm really not happy about them jumping the NFT train, as much as I expected it.

What you say is true but I still think one can have a critical opinion about it and actually question what ever if it's really worth that much. One can not question what ever if it's worth that much to the person that actually pays 4k$ on a single peace of artwork. But if it's actually worth that amount of money in general can be debated. Even from a market point of view. Just because there is a demand for something doesn't mean that it's trully worth that price. As an extreme example to illustrate my point, there are people willing to pay several hundreds of dollars for a pair of Nike shoes which have been eventually put together by children for a nickel. Does that mean those shoes are now really worth that much?
It's also made more complicated by the fact that you can find many artists out there that put objectively not only more work in their art than Miles but also offer you, as the customer, more flexibility in what you want for a fraction of the price. And yes if someone offered me 4000 for some art I would jump on it as well. But who in their right mind wouldn't? That doesn't change that one can still discuss it.

The difference between a "fiat" currency and commodity (such as gold) currency is that fiat currencies are (hopefully) carefully managed, while commodity currencies are just left up to fate. While I've tended to defend his absurd prices -I mean hey, if people are willing to pay them, good for him I suppose? His art has had it's moments, but is mediocre at best, and I'd say it looks lazier and lazier over the years. Any real artist will seek to improve as time goes by, but I've seen no signs of that.

His general attitude seems to be pretty repellent too. He comes off as arrogant and doesn't seem to take criticism well at all. He seems pretty hard to like. He is literally the first furry artist I would imagine would try to get into NFTs.

Because they are the same encryption technology used in all cryptocurrency (Bitcoin and the like), which require large draws on computer processing power, substantially increasing the amount of electrical power used by the computer doing the work.

crypto is essentially a currency thats determined value is by how much energy was used to create it through a computer solving an algorithm. computers don't run themselves. they actually take electricity in case you haven't noticed. it doesn't take very long to look up actual crypto rigs and see how massive they have gotten at this point. just a simple Google search will show you how many GPUs they use and those things don't run on tears and dreams.

I dont have anything to say that hasnt already been said, but there are many people that have cloned that art style over the years and have more humanity and understanding of anatomy than him by this point. I always found the style not to my tastes but noticed things like his popping up often. Unless you deliberately wanted to make a mistake or dont care about anything besides 'brand' name, a little extra effort could mean you found someone a lot more deserving.

I'd say to just leave it, negative publicity is probably only going to benefit him more in the end.

As for him being a figurehead for the community. I barely know anything about him other than that he's the guy that charges far to much money for his art for it to be anywhere near remotely worth it for me personally. I have only seen maybe a couple of pics from him.
