I was on the fence about speaking up about this guy because I honestly got the impression he was a naive person and he might still be naive here, but at this point it's incredibly insulting for him to jump on this genuinely cancerous money laundering scheme. he has done only what benefits himself over and over and I'm fucking sick of it. his shit isn't special, go pay better artists. The fandom deserves a better identity than having dick heads like this be figureheads.

cant say im suprised they are now straight up scamming people w/ the n ft bullshit
That being said, I'm really not happy about them jumping the NFT train, as much as I expected it.
It's also made more complicated by the fact that you can find many artists out there that put objectively not only more work in their art than Miles but also offer you, as the customer, more flexibility in what you want for a fraction of the price. And yes if someone offered me 4000 for some art I would jump on it as well. But who in their right mind wouldn't? That doesn't change that one can still discuss it.
Thanks for the heads up LDR.
Personally I think the thing about the inscription on the character's t-shirt was a tempest in a teapot. I would assume that Miles was trying to make her edgy, but of course that inscription itself was anything but punk. It's entirely possible that Miles had no idea what the real connotations of that slogan were though. It's assuming a lot to think that Miles himself is bigoted just because of that pic. He was clearly drawing her as an "antihero bad-girl" type. There's nothing wrong with creating a character that doesn't represent your personal views. It's one of the most common exercises in fiction.

whatever goodwill he may have had with the community is probably gonna evaporate
what do i do???

And for you, LDR...so fucking what? NFTs are shit but what was the point of this other than to morally grandstand about how much better you are?
lol
They also have rules against harassment, which going around not just one but two blocks definitely is.
What, do you live in 1962?
Cold war is over you know ? Been over 30 years ...
Also because NFTs are fucking awful and contributing to the literal death of the planet, maybe.
I found the cost of twice my monthly wages for a single piece of work already beyond luxurious. Because unless he can prove to me that he's putting in a full 40-hour workweek for a month for ME, I don't feel like I get my equivalent work for me being paid for my expertise to him being paid for his expertise.
Still, his asking price is his to ask. That's the value he puts on his work and I don't get to mandate this. And people are paying it so...
But it already felt a little bit ethically low to hide behind the callout of "Aaah! You're a pricewanker!" whenever someone commented on the exorbitant pricing.
This is the last bridge I would guess.
The other behavior it shares is that of a pyramid scheme / multi level marketing scheme. The amount of overlap is 1 for 1, complete with corporate / tech-bro / 'selective language' to make it more desirable for the victims that get involved in it.
But this is a new low, like holy crap.
It's a shame that people only pay for the work to wave it around like a badge. Too bad the badge is , 'I'm a sucker!'
This certainly comes as no surprise.

it sure is not. this is shameful if that should be "what" it is and even a new artist which might never got layed to see what it could be knows he or she could draw "that" better.
They are part of a system designed to trick people into thinking they have something of value while they contribute to human civilization's ever-increasing rush towards its self-inflicted demise. See also: crypto mining
*They actually are
this video explains it the best.

Including any paper or non-precious-metal coins in either of our pockets :p
As such, cryptocurrencies tend to suck as actual currencies because they rapidly fluctuate in value. People are throwing a fit over 7% inflation in the USD last year, but we're supposed to tolerate a value change of 10% in a single day for crypto? Miss me with that shit.
His general attitude seems to be pretty repellent too. He comes off as arrogant and doesn't seem to take criticism well at all. He seems pretty hard to like. He is literally the first furry artist I would imagine would try to get into NFTs.
Either way, bringing more attention to this junk does just that: brings more attention to it. Leave it in the dust for history to judge.
Okay so... I think the concept of NFTs are dumb ... but no one has explained to me how it uses tons of energy to create one
Now listen, there is a metric shit ton of information to be found on the internet and not all of it is correct or is muddied with other info. Here we have someone that is complaining about something and has educated themselves on the topic, seemingly having sifted through all that information to find the facts or at least enough to where they feel comfortable with dispensing their opinion with facts supporting it. So it's a logical conclusion to expect them to answer a simple question.
You are right that they don't have an obligation to answer, however just because they don't want to answer that doesn't mean they should be sour and rude about answering. A simple non response or "please look it up yourself" would have been a better option, more so considering someone else did give me an answer.
I want you to put yourself in my shoes for a moment... Imagine approaching someone with a booth talking about a topic and when you ask them a question about it they treat you like a child, but also give you crap for not knowing what they know... who is the asshole in this scenario? The person who is seeking education from someone that seems to be educated on a topic... or the person that bites at them just for asking.
I've seen other comments they've made to others in this journal where they are civil and nice... but then I get the sarcasm and attitude... Obligation or not I don't feel like that was warranted.
Maybe White Knighting wasn't the right term in this case, but you are defending someone that didn't need defending unasked to do so. Your comment to me wasn't needed because after my reply to them I was going to just leave it at that. But you had to nose in and belittle me for no reason. I crafted my response to them to be respectful despite the sour tone I received... It's not like I exploded on them for a minor issue of a 'sour tone'... but then you come in and poke at me, you didn't address my reply to you, you just restated your original comment with an insult thrown in. I CAN be an asshole at times but this isn't one of them... I'm trying to be good here and instead of getting that in return I'm basically being told " you aren't allowed to ask them, don't talk to them, go read a book moron ". I'd like to think that I'm being patient in saying my peace, only to be met with rudeness for no reason. So... I'm done, I'm sure you're going to reply like you won or with another insult to make you feel good that you told that scary stranger to "fuck off" when he came around and dared to ask a question in a journal.
Have a Good Day regardless.
I'd say you have a chip or two on your shoulder dude but at this point it's looking like an entire bag of sea salt flavored potato chips or something.
As for him being a figurehead for the community. I barely know anything about him other than that he's the guy that charges far to much money for his art for it to be anywhere near remotely worth it for me personally. I have only seen maybe a couple of pics from him.
The same way that the people I consider figureheads may be mostly unknown to those with slightly different preferences.
