Lookback at 2021 & 2022 Plans
Hello hello!
We're already almost at the end of the first month of 2022.... time is going past so fast!
For anyone interested- I am going to sum up last year first, before we get into the 2022 news and plans :)
Last year happenings:
-Visited some nice domestic friends throughout the year, it was nice jumping on a train and visiting for a couple of nights at the time for drinks, cuddles and other cozyness.
-Went to Krakow, Poland to visit some nice furry friends there, and also picked up my new fursuit feetpaws while I was there.
-Went on a short 2 night trip to Antwerp, Belgium to spend some nice time there with a Belgian fur.
-Got visited by a couple of nice Bulgarian friends in my city, Eindhoven
-Visited a nice furry friend of mine who lived at the time in Hamburg, Germany and had fun spending time with him and exploring his city.
Generally it was a succesfull year! Even without conventions I managed to keep myself busy, made good use of the COVID-19 Vaccine passes to travel to other countries to visit furry friends. I actually fund these trips really relaxing, I think conventions are good because it means you can be something else for once, you can dress up as your fursona, you drink a lot of alcohol, do a lot of dancing, partying and spending time being social, which is awesome because it's an awesome break from everyday life, slaving away at work. But, I wouldnt really call conventions 'relaxing', they cost a lot of money, registration is nerve racking most of the time, and at the con you are doing all those things mentioned above which also take up a lot of energy and such. But with short breaks to visit furry friends who live scattered all over Europe, it's actually more relaxing. You can sleep in late and cuddle with them, go out to explore the city to explore on your own terms and pace, go for food and drinks, and no big heavy luggage, no fursuiting and no extreme partying. And these breaks are perfect for mental sanity and wellbeing. I enjoyed those trips so much last year and I will continue doing them throughout this year as well.
Talking about conventions however, I am planning only a few. Usually I went for 4 conventions a year in the pre-COVID years, but for a few reasons, I am only doing 2 this year. I wanted to originally go to Gdakon, NFC, Confuzzled and EF. I decided not to attend CFZ because of UK's harsh coronavirus restrictions which meant extra PCR tests and quarantining etc (making the convention expensive and logistically hard to plan), and NFC which I registered and paid for but got cancelled for this year and rolled for next year. But I am okay with that, I keep my main hotel spot for next year, all good.
So that leaves me with only Gdakon (Gdansk, Poland) and Eurofurence (Berlin, Germany). I already paid and registered for Gdakon, and I will register for Eurofurence this weekend when registration opens. I am particularly looking forward to Gdakon since I am hosting my own event there, but I am also very popular and well known with many of the attendees there so I'll always have someone to hang out with. and I love Eurofurence too and can't wait to attend too.
2 Conventions for me is not alot this year, half of my usual, but it's no problem. For the rest of the year I'm going to make up for it to visit more furry friends again because I enjoy them so much, plus visiting my few domestic friends here in NL. I'm planning to go to Krakow again, to Gdansk (not just for Gdakon, but also for a seperate private trip later on in the year), Sofia, Frankfurt and probably 1 or 2 more cities that will be booked more spontaneously.
So, those are my plans for this year, I think it's going to be a simple but really affective year for me. What about you, what are your plans?
Thanks for taking the time to read, I'll make another journal later on in the year. ^^
