Too many of the ads are too damn short. They often fail to compellingly convey what they're trying to sell, and just get on my nerves because of how much of a waste of time they are as a result. If you're going to give me a commercial, then at least make it long enough that I can either gather enough information from it to actually care about the product you're selling, or if I'm not interested in the product then have it still be long enough that I can take a minute or two to step away, use the bathroom, grab a snack, or whatever else I might want to do to settle in for watching my show. When an ad is only like 15 seconds, it achieves neither of these things, and just makes me want to skip it instead because it only serves to annoy.
Shock #2: Youtube can be hated the most for something other than its censorship. Can't not think of that whenever thinking of them, given they're still trying to get rid even of independent animators off the platform by randomly deleting or age-restricting anything they post.
As for the censorship bit, I don't mind that as much because since I'm not a content creator myself (at least not a profitable one), it's not as incessantly in my face as my issues with the ads are.
Meanwhile, I say the technical term for genitalia, and they put me under restrictions.
What's most annoying for me though is when the first ad is only about 30 seconds, because then I'm sitting there watching it and wondering if the next ad will be long enough for me to step away for a minute, but I don't want to click skip ad because that'll skip both. So I wind up sitting through the first ad only for the sake to find out if the second one will be of substantial length for me to not have to rewind or pause the video if I need to do something first.
