New Job
Okay, folks. I have talked about this a little on my vlog, I don't know if it's released yet or not but in any case, as stated above, I have a new job. It's at my old employer, and while I don't yet know what it all entails I am confident and excited to get started. There are still some things to settle up before I can get a routine down, but I think my boss is a nice guy and best of all they'll let me keep the blue in my hair. (This was for reasons never quite elaborated upon a bone of contention at my last job.)
I start tomorrow (mostly orientation) and will arrange for parking and such on Tuesday. Needless to say it'll probably keep me pretty busy at least for a bit but I'm hopeful I can keep up my current level of video production and writing although today was a bit of a less productive day than I'd hoped, but I'm trying to not let it bother me since I've been doing really well as of late.
That being said, it is in a new department which pleases me and will allow me to attend the Star Trek con in the summer.
I'll elaborate more when I know what the situation is, but for now I just am waiting for my car to come back from the shop. It was giving me some issues and supposedly they fixed it but we will see. I'm just hoping it lasts me at least 6 months, maybe 11, before I can afford to upgrade and trade her in for a new model.
I'm thinking about a Hyundai Elantra. The price, look, and recommendation from a fur I know seems to suggest it'll be a good fit.
That's it for now, more later.

The Elantra is one that I've only ever heard good things about. Have no idea how to fix one, but it should be a no-fuss ride.
As far as the Elantra, I have a few inquiries out to the local dealership for one of my concerns but I'm strongly considering it.
Minor issues, the inhibitor switch had to be replaced and the drivers door lock actuator died, but the car runs great and I've had it for just about 3 years. It's nearing 100,000 miles which I'm expecting late summer/early fall.
Also when they worked on the engine I got to drive a 2020 Elantra and was amazed at how good the mileage is even going up and down hill. The car's a bit too small for my tastes but I'm sure it works just fine for most people. My former coworker has a GT that he bought new in 2015/2016 and he loves it but being a GT it's not the best in the snow. On really bad days he took his wife's Tucson (which has AWD) to work instead. I assume you're still down south so snow won't be much of an issue but I'd keep that in mind if you do go with the wagon.

Best of luck with the car, too. I've only ever driven Toyotas, so I can't say anything bout Hyundais, but I hope, if you get it, it'll be a good one!
I think my brother just bought a Hyundai. I don't remember what kind, but he seems pretty pleased with it, if not exactly thrilled with it yelling at him for getting too close to the center line. Even when it's detecting cracks in the road instead... But then, I drive a 2010 Jetta, so what can I say about new cars?
And I just hope my car cooperates for 6-11 more months. It sounds like the window is slow to open/close and that the key sometimes lately has kind of stuck when turning it off, but I hope it just holds out for a minimum of 180 days.
Also, congrats on your new job, Lauren. :)
And thanks!
And yes, 2012 Elantra owner here and the thing has had very minimal issues! Hoping for another 5 years, may get ten!
