Sorry/Not Sorry Russian Artists
Sorry your payment systems got cut off, Russian artists.
Not sorry because the leader you elected is a despot and started an illegal war. He's your leader, it's up to the Russian people to remove him from power, whether with their voices or their actions.
If you want to play nice with the rest of the world, you need leaders who play nice and YOU need to hold them accountable, he is ONE MAN and you are millions of people. I'm sick of hearing the "but I can do nothing by myself" arguments - band together and depose your tyrant.

Sorry, this situation and war is inexcusable and will never be forgotten. But I never supported this regime. The thing, which not many people talk about, is the state of Russian opposition and people, who are opposing this regime. We had a lot of protests since 2014. But every time they did not influence anything and only ended up in that psychopath increasing the pressure on Russian people who are against it. Our opposition leaders are killed or in jail (Nemcov, Navalniy). At this current moment the amount of state propaganda is on the level of KNDR. Our elder population (35+) are severely affected by propaganda, literally brainwashed, same level as Japan in 1944, and this leads to families breaking apart - younger people like me trying to show them the truth from independent sources resulting in them calling it fake and calling us as betrayers of the nation. Then we have new rules, protesting or even calling it “war” will result in huge fees plus chance of being detained for up to 15 years in prison. We also have people who’s entire job is to seek those, who spreads the truth in social networks and report them to state officials. And still, we have brave souls that go out against all odds and protest knowing that they will get detained. Russia is not Europe. We don’t have freedom of speech. It is not a democracy. Please don’t judge all Russian people as one. Russian people are not his dictatorship regime. I regret all of what is happening right now. Please try to understand the position we are currently in, we are hostages

OP
Similar authoritarian events have happened throughout history in France, Spain, Germany, Africa and South America - even in the United States before AND after we won independence. Take a page from those histories - change happens through popular uprising and unification, underground if needs be. The Russian people are millions, and even if only 20% of Russians are against Putin, that's still many millions. You can band together and form a resistance, they can't arrest you all. Clearly the internet is still up and running in Russia, the most powerful communication and information tool to ever exist, you can use it to shocking effect for organization and planning a resistance movement. I feel sorry for the plight of the average Russian citizen, I do, because I understand this is not your leader and not your war, but complicity or complacency with what's happening with the top leadership in Russia is basically acceptance of what's happening. The whole world (nearly) is against Putin and his illegal war on Ukraine, Putin can't jail an entire generation of people - that's just not feasible in the short OR long term, and the rest of us are behind you and support you - some day, probably not too long, Putin and his oligarchs who have backed his illegal war will answer for their crimes in The Hague. You have an opportunity to be part of history and get on the right side of it. Rise to the occasion.
