And that's not a bad thing, either. We might disagree, but I'm glad you spoke your mind. It's good to get a different opinion about anything and everything in the long run. Echo chambers are terrible for the individual to grow, as nobody can grow in a vacuum.

In the end, I agree that the entire thing was 2 entitled rich actors fighting over a joke about one of their wifes who publicly disgraced her husband. None of this effects anything at all, and given the other events going on internationally, it's a pretty weak yet well timed distraction. However the public is conversing about it, and there's no harm in dipping a toe into the public forum to see what's going on. Again, a chance to grow by trying to understand perspectives we might not already have.

People are entitled to their opinions. I suppose my bias is just not caring much about the Oscars and not caring much for gossip about movie stars.

I think it's a little weird how much everyone is slagging Jada, and I tend to think that whether they're famous or not, Jada and Will's relationship is their business. It's easy to assume things and talk shit, but it's hard to know what their real relationship is like.

Yeah, I can feel that one. Oscars.. bleh. A circle jerk of creepy, disconnected people payed to much to play pretend for a living. It is strange with how the overall population has fixated on it. Maybe cause it's them turning on themselves? People have earned an upturned face at the elitists after their "We're all the same!" as people like Madonna were trying to be relatable in their bathtubs of milk and rose pedals while our jobs were being destroyed by Covid lockdowns (regardless if it was good or not, people don't like being told NO).

As for the anger towards her? Many people grew up with Will Smith always playing the relatable characters in Fresh Prince, MIB, Independence Day.. then his music career didn't revolve around negativity, and didn't even have swearing. He seemed clean, pure, to good for the creepers in Hollywood. Then that interview came out where Jada admitted to cheating on him, told him he couldn't do anything about it, and that he had to pretty much just shut up and accept it. He looked crushed. Many people felt for him.

Then they seem him laugh at a pretty damn tame joke, she gets a sour face, then he goes up and slaps a comedian that is ALSO very much liked? It just seems out of character, and involving 2 actors we mostly like. And for what? The honor of a self-admitted cheater?

And here is what I'd consider to be the bigger spark of it: It's a controversy if it was actually over her honor, or was it staged to bring people in for the next year's ratings by people who want to catch the next potential brawl, IE: All for ratings.

So a shallow, surface level "conspiracy theory" that people can cling to where there's not much backlash for being on the wrong side of any faction. Humans enjoy diving into these sorts of things, so I guess that's nothing to shocking either.

Least that's how I see it.

As a little side note, and for whatever it's worth, I was also amused how many time my icon pops up here. But to analyze that a bit, my first comment was the one above, which was a dumb joke, and later I made a more serious comment. Everything else was in response to things people said to me. I'm generally happy to bat around ideas.

A part of me thinks this was planned. Like one of those Andy Kaufman/Jerry Lawler moments where, yeah the one guy got slapped and people acted angry but it was all planned out. It would be something that maybe gets people talking about primarily an award ceremony that has lost a lot of its cultural relevance over the years.

Another part of me wishes somebody had thrown a chair and the room had erupted in chaos. However, I mostly think the entire thing is as stupid and meaningless as the ceremony itself.

The fact the Academy allowed Smith to talk for TWELVE Minutes for his acceptance speech was also a major tell all. NOBODY is allowed past 3 minutes and they play the music to hustle them off stage.
