not a russian but did get a clearer view there is some diplomats over there or nut job that basicly protests or so on agains furry or most things that he doesnt like and has him and his group flash mob the servers or locations with suggestive images like animal cruelness so on mutilation type images and then claims he has proof furries are these monsters. thus the ban. But there could also be the ukraine war thing government not wanting people to see truth outside of state media

Well, here i am. Checking if i can still access FA without VPN daily now. Writing it with VPN turned off.

The Saint Petersburg court decision apparently indeed affected some of the largest ISP's here. Mine idn't as you can see. It seems only some followed the suit, but i don't know, maybe it's only temporarily for me. In any case - i have pretty good VPN, plus there are free plugins that anyone can set up (https://antizapret.prostovpn.org). Russian government created a censorship system here, adopted some idiotic laws, aimed at protection of conservative family values. Instead of protecting those values, these laws are usually used to supress any kind of opposition news and media sites, and sites that they can't influence.

As usual, the severity of Russian laws is mitigated by the optionality of their implementation. And indeed, i saw countless of times when those laws were used only when authorities needed to do somethnig, usually that had nothing to do with family values crap.

My theory is that maybe somebody reported to the authorities about FA, that a lot of russian furs openly express their anti-putin opposition and even created some small anti-war societies. For authorities it was nothing more than another case that needed to be done quickly, and they used one of those anti-LGBT laws. But it was done at a local court, so it didn't affected whole country.

Plus, as mentioned before, there's this religious wacko Paul Jacobson. He fought windmills, i mean furry fandom, for several years by now, without much of success. He probably chose furry fandom because it was an easy target and because other activists already took their niche, so he wouldn't be the most prominent figure in their fights. It very well could be him who tried to do that.

After the war ends and Putin will get executed for his crimes, Jacobson is probably will try to flee the country.

You have to have X+50 or X-50. It's either "burn the gays" or "let 'em murder rape kids in public". It's never "consenting adults in the privacy of their bedrooms". Except as some middle ground PR that's just a step in justifying one extreme or the other.

It's never "I like to have weird sex with my wife sometimes",it's either "complete prude who can't stand a man's touch" or "absolute slut who'll fuck anything". It's even more annoying with it's both at the same time.

I've been following several russian artists for ages - some of them are quite good, and none of them have been for the war in ukraine
...and several of them had posted journal posts in the last few days going "Lol VPN"

I alerted one Russian artist I follow just in time, they too went VPN. But they are still cautious about their government. They are sitting on a pile of art to mail to the States and neither country is allowing mail in or out.

So, I contacted the fur I mentioned above. This was the situation as of this morning:

"One of the site's parts, furaffinity.net, was reportedly blocked since 5 of August, 2022. But the https://www.furaffinity.net remains operational as of now. There's no more information in the official Roskomnadzor registry."

I remember the whole Nazi Fur incident and how out of control it had gotten, but in some of the events it was handled very well by the event organizers. Although honestly when I look at history. I just don't look at all of the best events that have made lasting impacts on the world. but I also look at all of the bad that has happened as well. Like Nazi and Holocaust.

Those are events in history that should be taught without censoring any of them so that way future generations will know the true evils of those events and strive to do better by not repeating the mistakes of the past.

If you look at the war in Ukraine right now you can see the effects that it is having on Russia are the exact same thing that happened to Nazi Germany just before the outbreak of WWII... a Brain Drain. Men who have expertise in the fields of Chemistry, Biology, Engineers, Miners, etc. All of these men are leaving Russia to avoid the illegal Draft when industries that are protected from the draft men are being told to report for combat training when they work in an industry that is protected by International Law. Heck, even people with disabilities were drafted when they clearly have a mental condition from which they're protected by the Geneva Convention that prohibits the enlistment of those with physical or mental disabilities.

The Geneva Convention works great so long as their side is the winner! ;P

I found that if any legal treaties are signed by a dignitary that is sent as a representative of a Nation, then that Representative's name, even after they're long dead will still hold legal weight to this very day.
