"i was on tumblr when yahoo had to sell it for $3 million after buying it for $1.1 billion. we were all a little bit responsible for losing yahoo a billion dollars. and with that type of collective effort, i believe we here on twitter can lose elon musk even more"
Doubt he'll kill it, but it really needed a change of hands. But most social medial platforms are cesspools anyway. Also he didn't buy twitter to make a profit, he doesn't need twitter to make money. He has far to many multi billion dollar companies that he can easily make this back from. He literally did this on a whim.
This is why we're heading into a world where there are going to be so many regulations on pretty much every right, be information, news, or even assembly. Oh, and you've forgotten that Twitter is a prime memetic weapon deployment venue too...
Alright, memes are defined as the most basic unit of information. We're, by this definition, 'memeing' right now. Like biological organisms, memes want to propagate. As with many things, they can be harmful to people or even weaponized... with the problems thereof.
Back in 2016, Russia deployed the most successful memetic weapon to date, installing Trump into the White House (I shit you not) and caused various forms of destabilization in numerous democracies that are within the US sphere of influence.
Memetic weapons, when properly made, can be the closest thing to mind control due to how our minds work. The Infographics Show has a video on this sort of warfare (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fM.....fographicsShow), and the tabletop SciFi RPG Transhuman Space has a detailed expansion book working memetics into the GURPS system... with a good third of it detailing what memes are.
Got it. Thanks. Just wasn't sure what you were saying in the first comment... like we're heading into a world that's going to be OVERLY regulated? If anything, Elon Musk is gonna probably underregulate it.
as a small artist, that's kinda a tragedy, cause I just started getting a bit well known there, but I can relate a lot!
Frankly I just wish there was better options since DA is kinda dying and my only problems with FA is that creator discovery is realllyyy not optimized..
(if you know any other art platforms less toxic and good for discovery could you inform me please?)
well honestly, this whole thing started off as a joke. But then I got commed to draw someones character and they were like "Oh hey, thanks a lot, this really helped me out with my transition thanks so much" and that feeling really drove me over the edge. I've got this silly belief that if I make enough transpositive content people can feel more free to be themselves and express. A luxury not all of us have had in the past.
Perhaps a bit of a long winded explanation, but it's the original drive
I know EXACTLY how that feels, to create something that helps someone realize or recognize what they're going through. It's an amazing feeling to create content that simultaneously indulges oneself and helps others.
While I don't have a recommendation of any one platform, there is a tool that can help you post stuff to all platforms without having to individually upload to each one: https://www.postybirb.com/
The 10 most rich Americans own just about every source of information. I'm just shocked how people claim that Elon Musk actually cares about free speech.

My take: Billionairs aren't your friend unless you're one of them, or they can use you.
