Aegosexual

I've found a word that describes where I'm at with my sexual identity. It's Aegosexual; a sexual orientation that falls under the asexuality umbrella. I've always been reluctant to identify as being on the asexuality spectrum because I always had this image of being asexual as being completely sex-repulsed and celibate to the point of not even engaging in masturbation. There's nothing wrong if this is how you are but it doesn't describe the full picture of being Ace. I was like, I have an attraction to males so I'm homosexual. I have sexual fetishes so I can't be Ace. I commission heaps of erotic furry art so I can't be Ace.

This was a belief founded on ignorance, as I learned more I discovered that wasn't the case. Asexual people can have a gender preference, have paraphilias and even be sexually active to some extent. Learning about the word Aegosexual describes how I engage with sexuality. Especially the part about enjoying viewing erotica and pornography but never fantasising about sex in the first person. It's like wow, that describes me. I'm not out there looking for sexual partners much of the time at all, compared to other people I know. I've only dated once and I'm not that excited or enthused about chasing more tail.

I don't think I'll be telling everyone that I'm Aegosexual now because telling people I'm gay is more understandable. It's nice to find a word that describes my experience in life.
