Once again, logging my progress home for informational purposes. Entries to be added during the day, and a separate write-up of my convention experience will follow.

AMTRAK:
--07:14a: Seated aboard Train 42, coach #25100
--07:28a: The Capitol Limited pulls in alongside us. I was wondering why there were still people seated in the waiting room during our boarding call. Usually train #30 has long gone by the time we're boarding. Amtrak's train-tracking site shows it was 2 and a half hours late upon its arrival in Pittsburgh.

From this point we switch from Norfolk Southern freight tracks to electrified Amtrak-owned ones, with high-level platforms and higher speed limits (up to 110mph or 177km/h) We're still hauled by a diesel till Philadelphia, so our speed will max out at around 100mph (160 km/h)

NYC TRANSIT:

--05:38p: Ar. Gun Hill Road subway station. This isn't my home station, but it has an elevator, making it much easier to reach street level with 90+ pounds of luggage. and board a local bus paralleling the subway route.
