I need to do more of this...
Long story short: Do minor stuff to break the routine when you get bogged down by time or other commitments when involved in a project.
I am guilty of log-jamming my output while I figure out how to do something within a larger project (usually a commission), seeing as the last two uploads (outside of Anthrocon commissions) were "just proving I'm still alive" pics. I need to 'allow' myself to do and post short-effort sketch stuff to keep in the groove when time constraints keep me from making substantial progress on larger projects, as Celestia gets to in the linked video.
What changed? a 15-minute (by bus) commute tripled at minimum, and on top of the evening tour, the nature of the work while at work changed so that the bulk of physical work takes up enough hours of the day that I can't simply set up my laptop and draw during breaks. So when I get home, I have dinner while watching videos, then...wake up at 2am sometimes. In any case, it's usually too late to get involved in anything contributing to a full-color pic during the week, and the only time I can properly devote to full-fledged pics is on Sunday, where I'm 'recovering' from the workweek. Monday is the second half of my 'weekend' and is reserved for doctors' appointments, housecleaning, backyard maintenance (gawd those vines grow back so fast...), and laundry. Any progress comes when none of those tasks are pressing, And then I got to get the family car re-registered (DMV visits require appointments due to the RealID stampede)
Bleh. At least I passed my most recent stress test with 'flying colors'
