I did once or twice, but the secondary accounts quickly became obsolete due to be continually forgetting they're there.

I have one account for my more... risqué art on twitter. But usually I try to keep it all in one place and flag my things as not g-rated when applicable.

Do you find you have a lot of cross over? or do folks only watch just one or the other? Is the only difference between the accounts the adult rating?

I have quite a bit of cross over, but also lots of unique followers on either accounts. The difference is the rating and topics I discuss when I make non-art posting posts.

I have two accounts here, one for my art commissions and the other for my audio mashups.

Perhaps not as much crossover as I had initially hoped, but I chose to add a 2nd account mainly as a placeholder to keep others from using my fursona name.

Well, here on FA, I used to have an account for my NSFW stuff, but honestly, It eventually got to the point that it was kind of annoying to maintain both of them, so I just quit using it (6-7yrs ago, now). I also had an account for adoptable designs, but it was kinda the same thing; just really didnt wanna maintain it, logging in/out evey time I wanted to do something else, etc.
Also doesnt help that I lost the email to both of those and couldnt access them anymore, else I would have deleted them by now.

EDIT: I do have an account on Deviantart, but the same thingg happened there; was just annoying after a while to maintain more than one account in a site at a time. I find it much more efficient and stuff to just use one per site.

Yeah I worry about the energy expenditure. But did it seem to work at all? did you get different folks following or did pretty much everyone still watch both? or only your original account?

I actually didnt advertise any of my alt accounts on the main one, except for the NSFW account here on FA. That one did well because porn tends to sell itself (and I was VERY cheap) but the other accounts didnt really get enough attention to warrent the time and energy.

I personally found that people would gravitate to the subject if theres a market for it, but its really difficult depending in what you’re doing.
One of my accounts was adoptables, where I would make unique, non-base, SFW designs, and they were VERY hard to sell without advertising or having a popular name behind them. I also wasn’t familiar with any fetish at the time (muscle, hyper, femboy, multi-body parts, etc), so people really didnt have much interest in them.

Really though, if there was one thing that I liked having the NSFW account for, and was the biggeat reason I didnt mind the upkeep, was that it kept my SFW seperate from the sexual stuff. Ive tried to do a lot less of that over the years though, so it wasn’t realy much of a loss when I decided to abandon it.

I have one for regular art and one for fursuits.
It's annoying running two accounts but it helps keep things in order for people who want to see specific things.

The answer to this question all depends on how you're asking this particular question. Multiple accounts elsewhere, yes.. multiple accounts on one site no, just FA since names still aren't changeable.

I've created a second account (   canmephart ) for all the commissioned and fan art of my characters. Most of this is fav'ed art, but I've had to upload art for artists who haven't posted (despite giving permission to do so explicity).

I do have to open a different browser to do it though. Firefox has my main account and Chrome has   Canmephart .

The reason for separate accounts is pretty obvious when you see the contents~
Practical tip: for my two FA accounts, I use two different browsers, one for each account so I don't have to log off/log on again each time to switch from one to the other

That'd be helpful. Did you find that diff people followed the other account or did everyone begin watching both? Is the only difference between the accounts the rating of the subject matter?

As far as I can tell, while there is significanty (and I mean, by FAR) less people watching the second one, they were mostly already watching the first one.
As for the difference between those accounts, it's not in the rating but the very themes themselves, which explains such a difference in public interest. My main account is for furry subjects, the second for mecha.

I haven't used alternate accounts on the same site. Largely for the effort required.

Most of the people I've seen have them to separate out their kink porn from their regular account, or in a few cases, their very niche porn material from their regular porn material. The "After Dark" accounts aren't always obvious or admitted even when the style is recognized.

Nods. I'm just curious if it'd be worth the effort to create a new tightly focused account. It may or may not have adult content, but mostly have a much more narrow topic than my general account which has both furry, adopt, fantasy, and comic themes.

It's a good idea. Cargo observed a while back that blogs which focus on a particular topic tend to better at attracting and holding an audience than ones that are all over the place. I've certainly seen a few Youtubers spin off accounts, to use one for painting miniatures and another for political commentary.

On FA, I'd use sub gallery folders as a way of curating things. I have seen someone do adopts and everything else. Something like 'all fantasy on Deviant Art, all Anime on Pixiv', could work too as I kind of feel anyone coming to FurAffinity is expecting a grab bag of furry things.

I have 3 on Instagram, the crafty/mixed media one is about 1/2 years old and I'm terrible at posting on it, because my main one takes up so much of my art and attention. I created a new one for furry art because I wanted it separate, but since it's fairly new I'll see how it goes lol.

I have 1 account on Deviant Art and Patreon. I typically post my personal art (which is rare these days) here and Patreon and commission only works on DA. I keep like a track record which ones I post and switch up their schedule.
For example, commissions 1 and 2 are posted on FA one day while 3 and 4 are posted on DA. The next time I post, 1 and 2 are on DA and 3 and 4 are on FA. Patreon get either first access or exclusive stuff. Thank goodness Patreon auto-posts, but I need to use Posty birb like I've seen most artists use so I can post at least a year's worth of stuff and forget all about it until I randomly visit.

On FA, I only have one account, but anywhere that isn't furry-specific, I have always generally had two: one for furry stuff, and one for art that is more regular sci-fi/fantasy/comics that I would feel more comfortable showing to most non-furry people and "regular" artists.

Granted, I have barely anything on the nonfurry accounts for the same reason I haven't updated here much-- just haven't had anything worth uploading in a long time. But I intend to change that.

It's difficult to say because of my inactivity for such a long time at this point. But curating the content in such a way to build better audiences for my work was a major motivation, yes.
