Character files: explaining my OCs and system
3 years ago
Welcome to the first in a series of journal entries dedicated to me explaining and giving description of my fursona OCs but before I get started I figured that it would be best to talk about a few things involving how I make OCs as well as explaining the system I have in place to stop most of them from becoming the classic Mary Sue/Garry Stu that way if anyone wants to make a fursona or any other kind of oc they can look back and either use my system or make there own.
Okay then now that I have that out of the way let's get started.
For myself I normally start with the Species I want the character to be... Anyone who has read the Species part of my user page knows what I use the most.
Next I determine the character's gender and looks.
Then I do something not a lot of people do I give the character stats in the 1 to 10 range with 1 being pathetic and 10 being supernatural normally determined by having a program choose a number to use as my maximum total for their stats as you can guess sometimes this ends in absurd characters and other times nothing special.
The things I put into the stat list are
Will: effects things like resistance to mind control with a 10 being completely Immune to all mind control, mind break and illusion. Post edit addition I forgot at the time to Will 10 also makes a character outside of fate and impossible to see the future of even with time travel
Strength: if this requires an explanation I'll be surprised
Agility: reflexes, speed, things like that
Intelligence: again I hope I don't need to explain
Stamina: again this one is obvious
Durability: do bullets bounce off this character
Skill: I don't think this requires explanation
Once I have those in place that's when I give the character a backstory, personality and then start giving the character powers, abilities, magic, basically I give them anything that I think will fit with the character I'm trying to make.
Then I finally name them yeah name comes last.
I hope you found this at least interesting to read next time I will actually get to character.
