So... serious question and life update time
3 years ago
Hey y'all.
So my work situation lately has been getting increasingly rough due to many factors affecting us lately.
I'm definitely gonna be losing some of my income, possibly significant amount, with some likelyhood of my workplace closing entirely and similar places I could apply for not hiring for the same reasons.
So...
I'm thinking of setting up some kind of tipjar for people who wanna toss some money at me?
I don't wanna do commissions cause last time I did was utter nightmare and don't wanna go through that again. I also don't wanna paywall content.
That said I still feel shitty even setting up this kinda thing, even if it's no obligation.
So I'm asking: are y'all okay with that?

Ko-fi it's a good place to start honestly. It makes it simple enough. Alternatively www.subscribestar.com/ or Patreon. You can toss wips old sketches n stuff for like 1$ per person per month

And yes. People should be okay with it honestly. Sometimes people just want to donate/ give vs going to a commission.

Sure, a Ko-Fi would be cool. Though, if I may ask, what was the issue with commissions?

I honestly find no problem with that tbh. I feel like every artist should have some sort of Ko-Fi (tip jar) just incase someone's feeling generous and want to tip a bit for doing what you do. Also, I know Patreon or SubscribeStar isnt everyone's cup of tea, but you could also treat that as a monthly tip jar or sort, and you don't even have to do paywall content either, but more-so just a few days to a week early before you share said art elsewhere. Hope this helps!

Of course that's okay!

Always encourage folks to set up tip jars. Can always setup a patreon, subscribestar, or kofi for some monthly supporters too. Doesn't have to be anything crazy, can just be a monthly tip jar!
