Lost Everything In A Hard Drive Corruption.

everything I've done for the last 10 years has been lost to me because of a issue with my external hard drives ROM chip. from my college to my university days and more. every bit of artwork I've ever done as well as tens of thousands of words relating to stories is gone.
everything I've ever done is gone and all that's left is the downloads I can get from telegram and discord.
not a single file remains and the only thing I have left is what I can scrounge together with help from my friends.
I say this now and I say it for everyone, backup everything religiously.
have your active hard drive as well as an external and cloud storage setup and make reminders on your phone to backup everything.
all I can do now is rebuild and get to work on reclaiming everything I've lost starting from what I can salvage from social media platforms and with help from my friends.
do not let this happen to you. every machine you have is a ticking time bomb waiting to destroy everything.
I haven't just lost my art, my stories but all of my commissions all of my characters and every gift a friend has ever done for me and all I have done for them...
I've lost my CV, I've lost my reference folders, I've lost the stories I've downloaded and every bit of Media I've enjoyed. and I've also lost one of a kind photos of my dead mother that I was planning to upscale through an AI for better quality photos. do not let this happen to you.
PC hard drive: your active hard drive
Cloud storage: the external storage you will be backing up every 3 days and have a reminder on your phone set to the schedule and you'll do it religiously.
External hard drive: the external hard drive you will be manually backing up everything onto and rewriting all of the other files inside that are already there, once every Sunday night.
80% of my work is never uploaded or shared to anyone and all of it is gone, do not let this happen to you.

There were a time that my SD card in my phone got temporary corrupted and I thought I lost all of my photos and document. But I make to back up from now on.
Thanks for the advice you sharing to everyone, it is indeed important to have a backup to recover all the lost memory.

even if your house burns down they'll have a copy because when it comes to technology when it rains it's a goddamn hurricane.
also they don't care if you have weird furry porn because remember when it comes to data storage they've seen the craziest and as long as it's not subhuman degenerate they're going to have to bite their tongue hold in the giggle and gladly accept the strange pornography that we all have.

and imagine it for the rest of your life as it never goes away and every day you wake up the pit in your stomach drops all over again as the self-hatred increases.
Had the same thing happen to me about fifteen years ago, and I’ve been paranoid about it happening again since.
