Night sighed, heavily. This was a problem.
“Is something wrong?” Cherry asked, worriedly.
Night sighed again, then began. “Well, most wolves have some measure of a connection to the unseen world of the spirits. Generally, it’s very, very mild. It’s more of an impression or a sixth sense rather than anything else. But, with some, it’s much more acute. Shade falls in the latter category. He has a heightened spiritual awareness to the point where he can actually see spirits. …particularly the spirits of the dead. It’s an ability he’s had ever since he was young. It manifested shortly after our parents died. It’s been a struggle for him to cope with this ability. He can’t control his power and he can’t ignore the presence of the spirits. Being in an environment like this will almost certainly overwhelm him.”
“Oh no…” Cherry whispered. “What can we do? How can we help him.”
“Where is the nearest temple?
“The Forest Temple is just a short walk from here. It’s in the woods, there.” she said, pointing to a nearby forest. “The priest lives at the temple, so they are always there.”
“Then, that’s where I need to take him. Mhina—“
“Wait!” one of the older girls, a black cat with striking, golden eyes cried. “He…he can see spirits?” she asked, hesitantly.
