“Have yet to rest?” she repeated.
“Sometimes spirits will linger behind for one reason or another. If there is an unfinished something they greatly desire to attend to, or if there is someone they wish to be near or to watch over closely, they often stay closer to the realm of the living to fulfill those needs and wishes.”
“Can he speak to them, too?” another teen, a male, gray tabby wanted to know.
“Well, it’s complicated.” he replied. “He can hear them, but they cannot always hear him. It’s almost as though they can’t understand, or can no longer understand our language.”
“But, he can at least hear them, right?” the girl with the golden eyes anxiously asked.
“Y…yes.” he cautiously answered.
The assorted teens that had assembled at the docks looked amongst themselves for hardly a moment before taking off in a mad dash toward the ship.
“WAIT!” Night and Cherry shouted.
In an instant, Cherry and Tahir sprinted after the teens as they went to search for the boy with the power to see the spirits of the departed.
“Mhina,” Night said, urgently, “stay with the children.” he instructed, before hurrying off to join the others.
“Have yet to rest?” she repeated.
