Oh, I'm sorry. I know a little of what you'e going through, as my mom had dementia. I took care of her at home, and it got bad in the end; there were days she didn't know me, kept asking to go home even though she already was, had fits of anger and constant confusion. The worse was that this was all rather sudden. My mom also had bowel cancer, and had to have surgery on her liver. Before she had that, her dementia was nowhere near this bad, but the surgeon warned us that anyone with memory problems who have this type of major surgery often come out with their dementia far worse than it was before. Sadly, he was right. Before, she just had the occasional memory lapse and bouts of confusion, but always knew where she was and everything. And then after; there were days she didn't know who I was.
