Other Websites

So the news is that a certain website that I may or may not have a seething hatred for and may or may not have stubbornly refused to use for years and may or may not have a name rhyming with "bitter"… anyways it doesn't seem long for this world. For previously state reasons I'm quite pleased about this news. Said hypothetical website has some of the worst UX design I've ever, well, experienced. In particular it's just horrible for art. It's designed in a way that your posts are essentially disposable. Honestly I could go on for a while but I'll spare you that. Though I do hold some resentment for artists who chose to use that website as their sole place for posting, I do feel bad for the people that rely on it. I imagine this is particularly devastating for self-employed artists.
So there's no doubt that people are going to move on to other websites. The question is where? Some people seem to be trying out Itaku, I made one myself, though I haven't started using it yet (It also seems to be experiencing some heavy load at the moment). I also made a PillowFort a couple years back if you remember, though I ultimately ended up abandoning it because I wasn't getting any traction on it and certain aspects of the site's design were really lacking in polish and features. I suppose I'll still link to it though. Maybe I'll give it another try if it seems like the site is any less dead.
I'm curious to hear, especially from my fellow artists, what other sites might have potential. I wanna be sure I snag my username on whatever site might take off. It'd also be nice to get in early and get a head start building an audience. I've been looking at Mastadon as an option but I'm not sure what instance of it my art would be appropriate on. I'd love to hear any other suggestions as well.
In case there was any concern, I will continue to maintain my FurAffinity as my primary gallery. I do have a bit of concern with this website. particularly with the trend of users getting suspended for drawing certain characters. This site does have my biggest audience though. And as much as there might be to complain about with site functionality, it at least functions as an art gallery which is far more than you can say about that site that's currently dying. I've also got My InkBunny and My Discord Server.
In any case, I've got plenty of drawing to do. You can expect a completed comm to drop this weekend, it's an extra special one! I've also got a couple other irons in the fire but it'll be a bit longer before you get to see those. I appreciate you as always, take care!

FA+

This was bound to happen eventually, though I expected more of a Tumblr ban dumpster fire than a hilarious mismanagement one~
But for real I was very much expecting a NSFW ban too. I'd almost forgotten about Musk buying the site. Didn't think it ended up going through. So naturally I've been enjoying the show. Absolutely did not expect things to go so bad so fast. I just hope whatever site people end up settling on ends up being better for art than Twitter was.
Twitter is designed in a way that makes your posts essentially disposable, literally garbage design. If only we could have a site with a large userbase and good discovery that had even the slightest functionality as a gallery.
Also I just use fa and pixiv with a light dusting of sofurry because I actually had an account there when it was still called Yiffstar and BEFORE making an FA account so it's just nostalgia lol
The reason you listed is one such reason why. There's no practical way to filter out an artist's actual content from whatever other shit they chose to post.
I tried to build a following there but failed on all 3 accounts, and i'm kinda glad i did now seeing how all that fanbase building was essentially useless for many.
Hopefully an actually usable artist and user friendly art site becomes popular for us to move to, and i swear to god if people mention Tumblr one more time- the NSFW ban wasnt lifted, some nudity is allowed but not really, cmon people
