Well... no. It's still there, there is just a transparent bar over it (on the Modern layout template).

I don't count heavily blurred, if it's blurred so much you cannot make out what it is, it doesn't count to actual size in my book :P

Is there any chance of a classic+ layout, like it was before this update, but not all the way back to the almost completely unusable classic mode?

Love the banner addition. The site news does cover some of it. Unsure if that is intentional but I love the look overall. Is there any plans with the empty spaces on the sides? It's a bit much on an Ultrawide monitor.

Not so much a complaint but something I noticed I used a lot in the prior iteration that was replaced was the icon of your avatar on the top banner used to go right back to your profile but now it's a secondary click. And I might have found a bug, when you scroll down and tap or click the cog, it scrolls back to the top.

Overall though I'm loving the look! It's super refreshing! Sorry didn't know where else to put this x3

We're making changes, reviewing feedback, and will be making additional tweaks.

After 8 months I just want to turn them off. They are often jarring, uneasy on the eyes, and can prevent a page from loading in a reasonable amount of time.

No. We specifically do not allow gif banners.

A good modification would be to lower the banner a bit so that it is not covered by the top bar. About 15% of the banner is lost due to the upper bar, which is also opaque and blurry.
Still a great update, many thanks to you and the FA staff for everything.

I like the update so far, and rarely have time to comment on them, I do find the announcement is covering 'views, comments, and favs' a little annoying, but overall workable.

Can you add the ability to upload a png or gif banner? I want to make a transparent banner but if it converts to jpeg that makes it impossible.

I just want a blacklist...thats all I have ever wanted.

They're working on it. Supposedly that's coming fairly soon.

But having a true working blacklist is really difficult for FA as it is, at least partly because of the tagging system here, and how it has been unenforced for so long.

Unless things are thoroughly and properly tagged, and that is enforced, it's going to be largely an ineffective patch. Still worth doing, I suppose, but I wouldn't predict that it will be very effective.

For it to actually work, they would need to institute a something like a booru style tagging system, a la e6, and enforce it. That would probably necessitate a user-editable system like e6 has. And if you think the admins are overworked now, just imagine what that would mean for them.

A large part of the problem is that there is so much work here, and so much of it is either untagged, or has joke tags, etc.

I tend to think the ultimate solution is to have a system like e6's, but to also keep the present tags and maybe rename that feature.

It would be an INSANE amount of work and expense though, so I don't see anything like that happening any time soon.

They have been saying "Soon" for the nearly 15 years I have been on this site. So I wont hold my breath.

Also I have heard the argument that they need to add a tagging system for a blacklist to work, but I disagree.
There are two types of people on here, the ones who tag every submission to maximize the amount of people who could see it and the ones who dont tag at all, usually because they are a popular fur and dont need new watchers.

If I search for "Rocket raccoon" and have the tag "scat" blacklisted, everything with tagged with scat will be hidden and the images that dont have any tags wont turn up in the search at all so its not an issue. Sure joke tags and trouble makers are always going to be an problem, but just black listing "scat" will remove 99.9% of images featuring it.

Sure there maybe one pic every so often where the uploader just tagged it "rocket raccoon", but if you spend hours drawing or most of you pay check on a picture, you most likely will tag properly.
It will never be as good as inkbunny or e621, but its better that LITERALLY nothing.

Neer is saying that it's coming soon, and I believe him. "Soon" is relative though. We shall see how soon that soon is, won't we?

And, as I said, it will be an improvement in any case.

I also don't think you can generalize about who tags what so much, either. Some folks do, some folks don't. I really doubt that it breaks down along such predictable lines.

It will also depend somewhat on what someone wishes to blacklist. Some tags are more likely to be used than others as well. People regularly doing gore or scat art may be more inclined to tag that properly than some others, for instance, which is obviously a good thing.

I'm just doubting how truly effective it will be because of lax and unenforced use of tags overall.

We are working on fixing GIFs in submissions. GIFs are not available for profile banners, however.

Looks like you disabling comments on every submission and deleting many you had too, i wonder why running from what's going on in your web page will fix what you already did, selling FA again are you?
