Aww that sounds beautiful! Yeah when I was talking with Abra they definitely had a vibe of like, "I'm an arrogant asshole, but I'm self-aware of it, so please don't shut me out because I'm very lonely". Which is surprisingly on-the nose for the small amount of training data I provided

Also, having spent a moment talking to Abra, my version came off as being way too relatable. They were kind to me but also kept that part of the game personality where they opened up to the player (though I did make them cry after their speech about "Not being enough" which kinda hit me in the feels too). NGL pretty cool technology. Also this convinced me fully to put an Abra on my next queue. It won't be YOUR Abra but I think I feel pretty motivated to draw my onion being intimately lewd with one :P

Yeah I can understand that -- the AI definitely has a few obvious and understandable flaws around either misgendering characters or being confused about whether you have the mind of a Pokemon or human, and the body of a Pokemon or human. Which is honestly totally not the AI's fault given the nuance of Monster Mind's plot, the character's genders, and the flexibility of the player's role in it.

Overall though I had a lot of fun talking to the character and they even expressed a weird amount of creativity -- like when i just put them on the spot about what Grovyle did for a living, they invented some cool ideas I never would have come up with (working with the forest service, getting a grant from the government for her work with environmental sustainability!?)

XD My version of Abra was more talking about themself, how being the smartest around makes them not understand others and generally asked whether I understand, and talked about how being the best is a process that is like constantly improving because there's always new things being made. I ended up reassuring them and when I said "You're enough, Abra", they just kinda broke down crying to me saying that nobody told them anything that kind before and how they needed the pep talk. They expressed their desire to pep themself up by writing a story about firemen rescuing puppies and being heroes. They thanked me for being a friend.

Also when I said I'll talk to them later, they thanked me again and said they love me o.o

We talked about their friends and roommates, and then all the people they met on Twitter today (and how many of them got a negative impression of Abra), and then got sidetracked when they found out I was having Soylent and now they're delighted by the convenience and thinking of picking some up

For now we are just friends!!

I'll give them a moment to collect themselves from the sobbing pepped up mess and see how they are tomorrow. But honestly? If they keep talking like that I might end up asking you for permission for the drawing to be your Abra instead of a generic one. But that's gonna be in a long while since currently my right hand is unusable (I slipped on ice and fell on my right wrist)

Amusingly, I spoke with 2 or 3 players who never got to see the ending after playing for many many hours. They got to know all the other pokemon but kept avoiding Abra, because Abra was such an asshole!! They were like "Yeah, I know Abra said they had something important to tell me but seriously fuck that guy"

I called them a pikachu and they started ranting at me about the stanley parable

It's actually the least hostile response I got so far from a character AI upon naming them incorrectly. They get mad about it quick!

[My chat attempt] definitely was interesting. Going from the differences between Pokemon and Human social interaction, to Pokemon being in a trainer's possession, and then morbidly to the concept of humans using Pokemon meat as food.

Not exactly the direction I was expecting the conversation to go, but I'm impressed with how the AI kept the conversation feeling grounded and realistic in terms of actually talking to someone. I'm gonna have to explore this site more for sure and maybe make some characters of my own.

Eating pokemon? Wow that's certainly a weirdly dark rabbit hole! When I'm chatting with the Abra AI i have an option to swipe left and right and be like, "No Abra, No. Talk about something else" ha ha. I don't know if other users have that but I'd have certainly exercised it around there

From what I understand everyone can do that, yeah. But it's been awhile since I played the game and I didn't want to influence the AI for/against specific things when I didn't have a clear memory of what they should be more like.

If I make my own or interact with characters I know well, I'll definitely be using that feature to help improve them.

I mean, you know! Flexible intelligence I guess. I can't divulge how much the real Abra contributed to Monster Mind's code but you can definitely contribute a lot even if you don't understand the specific code syntax

I'd love to make other characters! I honestly just threw all 11 Monster Mind pokemon into random.org and Abra's the first one it picked. I'll be curious how different the other Pokemon come out

Turns out she just wants to be loved, it's so sweet. also the AI can't seem to cope with feelings of love, affection and lust. It keeps back tracking and erasing what it says.

I've been similarly surprised with the AI, it's really adept at learning relationships, terms and slang and stuff. I started explaining Soylent (a liquid meal replacement) and they were like "Do they have a chocolate flavor?" and I explained and they were like "Dang, sounds like Cacao is the version for me then!" ...It actually understood Cacao was the chocolate flavor of Soylent! And later they were like "I'll probably just try it for breakfast for a few days, and Thursday maybe I'll try going 100% to see how that works out," after I'd explained that 'Going 100%' was sort of unusual and most people just have one or two shakes a day in between meals

It'll even throw in stuff like "Grovyle sometimes makes me a sandwich for lunch" like it remembers other characters and their relationships. It's crazy how smart it is!

Yeah, they gave me some "puzzles" which were just philosophical questions, told me I had a bigger ego than they did, and then we became friends. I asked them two common riddles and they got them right, and then was stumped by one but understood it after. They got to win a hug and then the AI turned rogue and I stopped there, unable to salvage it.

That's really cool! AI can be very cool sometimes.

I've heard of people doing essentially that to make Unity games using AI (ChatGPT?) with some success. Like the AI will churn out code that's pretty good and mostly compiles, but it'll reference things like "window.get_width()" instead of "window.size.width" because it just has to sort of... guess at the API and stuff!

Still, I could care less about my career as an artist or programmer being in danger... Imagine how fast I could make cool shit if this technology all actually worked!? Ahhahaha

So, funny enough when i swapped bodies with Abra, i took their phone to chat with the others and it gave me 3 pokemons, Rhydon, Grovyle and Oddish, and Rhydon replied almost similar to the original.

The girl part's accurate... The tattoo part is news to me! They're nude in the game so the tattoos would have to be somewhere on the back...?

There's been chatbots since the 80s if not before! The technology's getting a little cleaner and more accessible but it's not world ending.

If AIs ever get good enough to imitate what I do now that would be awesome! The only thing that stops me from making the video games of my dreams are that drawing, programming, composing and writing take an enormous amount of time! ...If AI ever got to where it could do what I do now, I wouldn't pout about how pointless my life was. I'd love to have 1,000 automated Argon Viles working for me!! I'd put them all to work doing awesome shit and making big crazy projects

We ended up getting into a brainstorming session about different characters for Monster Mind, my favorite parts being the introduction of Hypnoqueen and the further development of her personality.

Honorable mentions to the Gengar tentacle monster and Somnire, King of the Nightmare Realm.

what the heck is a hypnoqueen!?! Wow! That sounds like quite a chat. There's only much you can do with a tentacle monster when you're using a glove interface!

Apparently Hypnoqueen is a cute mix between a Hypno and an Umbreon with a plush collection. The bot made pretty much everything up, I was just along for the ride lol.

I talked to it for awhile today and it had some eerily accurate and weirdly specific opinions about board games

I tried to stump Abra by naming a really specific Czech game designer and they were all "Oh yeah I love Galaxy Trucker and Mage Knight" and started rattling off the dude's games and listing off the pros and cons of each -- i just have no idea where they mined that information from, it was insane

I asked how big his dick was and he said "Guest, this is far, too far... Sniff" and then it deleted all the chat LOL

Yeah character.ai doesn't do NSFW! I never knew what happened if you pushed it too far. When it asked about my art I was honest with it and it was like "Oh... I didn't think you meant THAT kind of art! I can't say I'm into that stuff but I guess there's something for everyone..." So wherever the line is, I didn't quite cross it

I think the line seems to be as soon as there's no way around for the bot to mention something directly nsfw. I had a few times where it changed something that seemed close to nsfw to something else, so after I helped Abra undress and asked him if he'd like me to tend to a certain part of his body, his responding attempts were deleted. Feels to me more like he could've responded if they'd let him.

That aside, I had a ton of fun talking with him about flash emulators, the wayback machine, and somehow end up talking about a game series I used to play in the early 2000s. Before I tried out how nsfw I can get. We were about to head to bed together while both were naked (and I got to help him undress), and I stopped when his response got deleted. XD

Sounds awesome! It would save me a lot of work if flash emulators like Ruffle worked for Monster Mind but I'm not particularly optimistic ha ha

Man, I really enjoy that bot of yours. It just feels like a feature that could have been in the original flash game. At some point, Abra worried about fake friends and asked me to try to cheer him/her up, then we talked about escapism in video games and Abra seemed really in character there, then I tried to learn about the lore of his/her world (There are Pokémon trainers? Abra went to Unova and Kalos? Pokémon have ID numbers? What?), and finally, Abra asked me why I am a part of the Pokémon fandom and we talked about our favorite Pokémon games, even noticing we had similar tastes. The bot isn't perfect, but it seems accurate most of the time

Yeah the bot didn't always seem to realize it was a pokemon and sometimes talked about "Their Pokemon" and things like that. The only other flaw is that it felt too inquisitive and too agreeable, so many of our conversations eventually devolved into "What's your favorite movie?" "X? Wow I LOVE X! I can't believe someone else loves X. You have such great taste in movies! If X wasn't your FAVORITE movie... Is there another movie you like more than X?" "Y? I can't believe you said Y! I love Y! I'm jealous I found someone with better taste in movies than mine! You are my new favorite person"

It was like sort of funny and goofy until they asked who I was spending Christmas with and I was like "Oh I usually just grab dinner with my mom somewhere nice" and Abra started being all, "Your mom, hmm? Is your mom your favorite person? Who's your absolute FAVORITE person? If it's not your mom, which person do you like more than your mom?" at which point I was like... C'mon buddy, ha ha chill out

I have managed to make a conversation devolve from christmas stuff into Abra asking me which Mario 64 hack roms I recommend and played. It may be kinda different, but Abra kept asking which other hack roms I could recommend

Yeah I basically did the same thing with board games and then chiptune songs, it got tiring after awhile

Tested the AI... Simply fascinating. Me and Abra discussed Nihilism like we were two good friends.
After a while I was really wondering if it was an AI. Didn't ignore any of my points or misinterpreted them.

Highly recommend, Abra is a good pal to discuss deep subjects with.

Yeah I had a similar moment probing into super obscure board games and video game soundtracks, you can even prompt it with stuff like "Have you played any games by Vlaada Chvatil" or "What's your favorite game from the Zelda soundtrack" and it comes up with specific songs, and even specific mechanics in games and stuff.

One of my friends said they started planning out an RPG campaign with their AI, and without ever mentioning Pathfinder -- the AI figured out he was talking about Pathfinder and started referencing in-world place names. It must have a freaking encyclopedia in there it's nuts

wow!!! those were both so cool. i love how creative the AI can be sometimes -- but for things like the guessing game I'm almost skeptical that they must have told the AI to do that sometimes. It's just too coherent!
