2023 Resolutions
Well, for starters, financially 2022 is a total failure. When I had quit my job to try and make doing art a living, I had done the math and needed to raise my income by 50/month every month. So that would mean my goal for the year was only to start making about $600/month as of December. And so far I have made a grand total of $0 for 2022. I'm still good for maybe another year before I need to quit and get a job again, meaning far less art.
Art-wise I'd say it's almost very much a success. Still haven't done a price assessment of what I think my art this year is worth. But though I don't know if my best has gotten much better than last year, I'd think that my standard has gotten much better. Which, considering what you'd want for commissions is better I guess. Like comparing my top 5 of last year, there is a noticeable drop-off from second on. But you don't see nearly as much of a drop-off from this year's. So I think my anatomy's improved, my consistency has improved and my backgrounds have improved, though I don't think my best has gotten much better. As for volume, I did 163 half hour doodles, 52 3-10 hour drawings, 7 15+ hour projects, 3 Consortium characters, 70 pages of Guardian of a Thousand Years and 82 pages of the Werepix Chronicles, 32 pages of Diary of a Transformee and 15 Usael pages. So 261 detailed bits of content and 424 total bits of art done. Just no money to show for it so far.
Next year, probably going to go for another 50 weekly drawings. Gonna try for another 12 monthly drawings but we'll see. Might not have the time for them. Got 103 pages of werepix roughly plotted out. also gonna aim for 85 pages of Guardian of a Thousand Years and 50 of Usael. There are a couple of other art projects I wanna do, but we'll see if I get to them.
I do want to get much better and faster at Blender. So I'm going to start trying to crank out a blender model a month. As well as the other blender projects I've been working on. Hoping for 2, maybe three big projects and 2-3 animations. Ideally I'd want to be able to get to the point where I can start making the comics that I've been waiting on my Blender skills to do. Gonna keep doing daily streams because I've found I'm far more likely to actually be productive when I'm streaming.
Writing is mostly a failure. I've written a grand total of only 44,496 words on my main stories, though that number is probably closer to 50k if you include Diary and Werepix and most of the words were from January and February. Gonna try to go for 5k/week. And try and maybe start going through Consortium episodes 1-3 to potentially get them to a publishable state.

I hope you have a good 2023 and things turn out OK, though!
