Just a lil personal update post.
I know I missed last week's weekly dump of old sketches. They will be comin up again over the next couple of days. I was just a lil out of sync for that last week.
Good stuff is that it feels like something has clicked in my brain the last week or so, I've been on a tear hammering out work, much better than usual lately.
I recently put a lot of much needed work into my game material and my Mugen/IkemenGo patreon will be gettin a nice update at the end of this month.
I also finished 2 animation commissions recently on top of the work for my game. I've been unusually focused, even more consistently than I was on ADHD meds. I donno if it's the b12 I've been taking that finally hit my brain, gym routine also helping my brain or what, but I'm loving it.
I've also decided that I will be pickin my parttime job back up. After 2 1/2 years of goin solo off of just my art, I've opted to pick that back up. I'm only goin for like 2 days a week tho. I want the extra money, and I'm trying to resist too sharply raising my prices on peeps that wanna commission me. I also want the extra wiggle room to reduce the commission grind a bit, I wanna shrink my commission load a lil bit and give myself more time for personal projects, like my game. Either way, the extra income will help me save a lil more. It's just nice to leave on great terms and be well liked, cuz I got rehired right over the phone. Hahah. It'll be good to get out of the house a lil more as well and just work my gym time adjacent to it. It'll help me avoid burnout too with the art-grind. Because I know I'll still have bad days where I can't focus for shit.
I'm restructuring my price listing for certain things. Sketches in particular.
Sketches as I've been doing them, are now raised to $32, from $24 and I'm calling those "polished sketches" now. I'm gonna be reverting back to how I was doing sketches in the beginning for cheaper again at $20, will decide that by the weekend when posted open for more. The base level of sketches will be rougher, but I've honestly been putting WAAAAAYY too much work into sketches; over time doing more and more work and not really pricing for all the extra work I've been putting into the pieces. I felt anxious about raising the prices or lowering my quality of them after doing it that way for so long, but I NEED to stop that. I think I found a reasonable compromise to that problem.
But yeah, some of my prices will need to raise a bit, because even with this new found focus, some projects still take me a much longer time than I'd like, and I need the time spent to be worth it for me personally. Like I said though, I'm trying not to go tooo high on folks.
I think that's about it for now. I'll post more stuff in soon.

You could easily charge $35 at LEAST for them, Id say $42 even. Since you aim to do less art commissions its fair to value your time more and charge more for it. You clearly have the demand in the large quantity youve done, its okay if people have to save up a little before reaching out to you. Im glad you raised them some, and I understand the apprehension against raising prices but I want to encourage you to continue to raise them, especially if you want to manage to depend on it less.
Thank you for the compliment tho. I would honestly bump them up even more, but I feel bad pricing folks out or other questionable fears associated with it. I mean, I've become WAY more confident with in my work over the years, but there's still that lil feeling of doubt "am I worth this?"
And yes, you are worth it.
I used to charge 40 bucks for my full color stuff, now I charge 140! Its a world of difference and is the reason I can afford to do this for a living. Never had one person tell me I charge to much. You are worth more.
the animations on the other hand are the thing I really need to bump up more. They take me too long for what I ask. I get a lil too eager to do a job that sounds fun and then bite off more than I can chew sometimes. x..x Hahah.
Thanks though, really. I'll def be considering all this.
Personally I think you're still undercharging for your art x3; Artie is 100% correct, you should be charging more like $42....honestly I think the polished sketched you've been doing are closer to $50... Don't undersell yourself, you're extremely talented!! :D
Thanks so much <3
