you know, that actually sounds like a pretty good way of doing things: Alternating between 2D and 3D art to prevent getting burned out on doing either one for too long :')

Doing 2D art will help make doing 3D easier since 2D art forces you to understand depth through lighting, proportions, and contours. I noticed that the biggest hurdle for me with blender is just understanding the tools since manipulating shapes I want is actually easier since I've studied understanding 3d through trying to manipulate pseudo 3D in 2D. So doing 2D more will help you and make your understanding of 3D modeling more intimate and comprehensive and comfortable.

I can tell its literally helping me with shading / lighting now. Slowly picking up on how shapes are lit by sources. I still sometimes make a 3D guide for a 2D drawing. Been doing it with hands or anything complicated that I couldn't imagine in 2D easier.

Most trouble I have is making a 2D thing look good in 3D. Seems easier to make 3D things look good 2D. Suppose the computer did the work of flattening it so probably makes sense.

Yeah it's nice to blend both 3d and 2d tools as aides, I'm working on my main sona on blender and hope to use it as a guide for proportions and a reference for future drawings. Though I might modify my sona model as I get better on blender.
