Story Progress Update! + Updated Commission Prices
2 years ago
Heyo! Been a little bit since my last update, so I figured I'd let everyone know where everything is currently standing for now.
1. Raffle Story for OGCW (About 1/3 to 1/2 done)
2. Raffle Story for Cainiam (Which may or may not feature a new bird character of mine I've been teasing!)
3. Bonus Raffle Story for ChocolateShinx
4. Story for MuskyZune
5. Gift story featuring Rita
These are all the remaining stories that I've been meaning to finish since the last update, and on top of those, there are also a few new ones to add to the list:
1. Trade with Yowesephth
2. Trade with Peppen (may be a while in the future)
With that out of the way, there's been something I've been meaning to bring up for quite a while, now. Despite being closed for commissions for over a year or two now, I still get folks that ask me if I'm open, or if I will be soon. It's difficult, because as much as I would like to take every request I get, the fact of the matter is that it's gotten rather unsustainable for me. From what I already have on my plate to write and my college obligations, I find it extremely difficult to open up and fulfill all of the commission requests I tend to get.
Because of this, I am going to reluctantly turn to the laws of supply and demand when I end up finishing all these other stories, and implement a significant price increase for my stories. I am not doing this because I am greedy, but instead because I seriously need to change how I do things if taking writing commissions is still going to be a sustainable thing for me without going nuts. If it hasn't been made obvious already by how I still haven't finished my raffle stories from four months ago, these things take me a lot of time. Hopefully by increasing the commission prices, I will also be able to manage getting through these stories a lot more efficiently, due to the motivation of delivering something the client will really like.
This isn't set in stone yet, but all of these reasons are why I plan on increasing my pricing from 8 dollars per thousand words to 20 dollars per thousand words. I admittedly feel a bit gross increasing the pricing so drastically, but it feels like the only way to balance the time investment and demand for these stories. Feel free to let me know what you think of this plan.

20 dollars per thousand words are still only 0.02$ per word. I have not done much research, but that seems market rate here on FA. Maybe low for prolific writers. Probably depends how fast you write.

Price increases are understandable. That rate also is also not Outrageous or greedy either. I’d say you’d be sitting in a good spot

Don't feel bad! Honestly, many furry writers undercharge themselves compared to artists. $0.02 per word is a fine price. Honestly, you could go higher.
