Reckonridge: 7-year old me

I've actualized a new character. His name is Reckonridge, and he's a 7 year old ibis. His friends call him Recker! ^V^
This year, I set off on an inward journey to find a pure version of myself. I'd come to the realization that all of the current versions of myself - Windy, Nessy, Certainty, Zoey, etc. - each of them represents a coping mechanism. Each of them came to be due to varying circumstances that affected my life throughout my youth and adulthood. While each of them are valid and representative parts of me, I found myself wondering who I was before all of the influence, corruption, and misdirection led me to become differing versions of myself.
I had to trace my past back to the age of 7 to find that person. Around the age of 8 is when my fear of death took hold. It's also when my father's alcoholism started tearing the family apart. At the age of 9 is where all of my transgender thoughts infiltrated me, and by puberty I was completely off the rails for myriad reasons.
Before all of that happened, though, I was a happy weird kid. A kid who loved science, who was only average at sports but didn't care because they were fun, and had no discernable esteem issues. I loved being an oddball, and I felt like the things that made me different made me special. I was able to make people laugh, I was quick to share anything I'd learned about science and math, and I was unconditionally happy.
Reckonridge is a moment frozen in time, immediately before everything went askew.
My dear friends
sweetrainbowskye and
medicatedcannibal have helped me the most in Recker's emergence, and I feel an eternal debt of gratitude to them for it.
If any of y'all have a middle kid (somewhere post-toddler and pre-adolescent) that would enjoy some unsolicited science lessons, some hilariously clumsy sports, and some really weird jokes - come say hi! ^V^

Sprout is 5 or 6 (can’t remember and I neglected to write it down anywhere. And he loves listening and learning! So I think they’d get along well!

Finn likes science and is really curious, so I think he’d adore Recker ^w^
