Hyenas Real And Imaginary, Mk. II
My Anthrocon panel on "Hyenas, Real And Imaginary" is scheduled for 10.30 AM on Saturday, July 1. I'm debating asking for a slightly later time slot.
If you attended my panel last year, I'm adding a few new slides and bringing my latest acquisition, a full-mount hyena. I'll also be talking about new observations from recent hyena research in the field.
We had a nice crowd last year and I expect to be a little more professional this year. :) I hope you'll drop by!

I was the only bidder.
It was "local pick-up only" so I asked a friend of mine who lived in that area if he could pick it up and hold on to it until I figured out how to get it to my house, which he graciously agreed to do.
Right after I won the auction, our car needed its engine replaced. Pretty lean winter for us.
My husband was not pleased with what I'd done, until he found out the guys he works with are into taxidermy, so now he's a celebrity at work because he's got a hyena.
My friend was going to be attending a wedding in South Carolina, and asked if I'd like to try to get the hyena when he and his wife came East. We made the arrangements and I finally brought Spots home last weekend.
He's a bit faded, and his fur is not as luxurious as the pelt rug ("Ruggles"), but he's well-posed and, at one time, was probably a very nice-looking mount. He took up the entire cargo compartment of my Subaru Outback.
Pictures!
