Howdy. I am a community member with 14 years of membership. A lot has changed in 14 years.

A very long time ago, just before IMVU acquired Furaffinity from Dragoneer, part of the problem of the early and mid 2010's was the proliferation of cub porn here on FA, earning the fandom a reputation. With the Social Media machine escalation well underway at that time, the ban on cub was made to save the site from dehosting and blacklisting. Many artists back then were splashed with bans, suspensions, and takedowns over their content being considered by moderators as Cub, with questionable success. I maintained contact with these artist friends of mine who left to Twitter, Tumblr, Inkbunny, etc, and to this day, we all agree that FA's heavy-handedness was quite noteworthy for the time.

This is part of the Closure of the West for the Queer-Friendly internet. Recently policy changes to the Acceptable Upload Policy have added yet more unclear errata to an already quite inflexible and vague policy, which I had previously described in my essay The Riolu Paradox. I will host the essay in its original pre-draft for public viewing after a brief adjustment, where I will do quick editing for the sake of the record. I expect fully that if people fucking listen to me for a change and actually distribute it, I will probably get banned from here. I'm willing to let that happen, I'm already dead from Narcolepsy, Dragoneer's administrative and directive incompetence emulates itself at every level of their influence on this site.

I will post a new Journal when I am ready, I must gather citations and refine this essay into something fit for Public Viewing. We are entering an extremely dark period for the internet, for queers, and for the human population. FA's direction in policy represents only the latest in anti-Queer weaponization of definitions to erode away at fictitious explorations of human sexuality emulated by equally fictitious characters. In my Discord Server, we openly joked about a hypothetical ban on Feral characters, but it isn't hard to see how a zeitgeist of Twitter-informed pitchforking has freshly transformed the Riolu Paradox from a simple hypocrisy into a full-blown crisis of Cognitive Dissonance within the fandom. What originally was intended to criticize a lack of direction now will be adjusted to note how insubstantial the firm and actionable errata added today resembles the dictatorial ramblings of fascists of all stripes.

Eventually, when you intentionally exclude the public from comment, you obfuscate the process and procedure, you make actionable offenses freshly penned into policy on day 1, and you make impossible any direct interaction on the topic, you create a dictatorial precedent. I have advocated for more errata, training documents, public-access ready literature so-as to prepare artists for FA's policy, and have seen nothing. At no point will FA's administration create guidelines which are substantiated by examples to highlight the errata, and based on their lack of meaningful consideration of their community's involvement in tagging, classification, and inter-rater reliability, we will see the problem worsen.
