"safe and inclusive place to share your artistic endeavor...

What an absolute joke.
Inclusive? Is that what we're calling it? Opening the door wide for subjectivity and bias to divide communities, damage artists' and writers' livelihoods, and falsely accuse users of not only being interested in content involving minors, but posting it?
Owning it?
Creating it?
This policy update is not the same as the age-old ban of the "thousand year old loli vampire". Regardless of whether you think that should be allowed or not, it is much easier to define what does and doesn't look like a child when it comes to human anatomy and proportions, even in the presence of style. You can have a much clearer idea of whether something adheres to the site's AUP before ever posting it.
So then why doesn't FA provide any clear guidelines as to what constitutes underage NSFW content involving Pokemon, Digimon and the like? Right?
Because from a visual standpoint, it's not clearly definable.
That's why, despite FA's recent claims to the contrary, the public perception is that there will be a list of species that simply aren't allowed to post in a NSFW context - especially in a representation that's more accurate to the source material.
If no one can decide on any distinguishing characteristics that would separate, say, a child Riolu from an adult Riolu in that context, why is it justified to just assume it's underage? Because the eyes are too wide? Because it's too short? Because its head is too big?
Every one of those statements and more are subjective. Opinions. And mods' personal views are only going to vary even more when it comes to differences in art styles.
But that's not going to stop the implication from being clear, if or when you have a submission flagged or deleted for violating this disgrace of a policy, even when you know the characters in it are adults. The implication, of course, being:
"Those are kids, you sick fuck. And that's what you like. What you made."
I don't know about you all, but I do not appreciate being lumped into such a group just because I think it's okay for an anatomically accurate Eevee to do the naughty in a more cutesy style.
Is that what we're doing now? Sanctioning mods to falsely classify users as pedophiles?
Strange; if a normal user were to unduly agonize me that way, I'd think that would be a violation of Rule 2.4 in FA's Code of Conduct.
I've been a member of FA for almost half my life. Nearly 15 years. And during that time, I - we, as a community - have put up with a lot. But I feel none of even the most major grievances come close to the scale of what we're facing with this updated policy.
As I'm sure plenty of you can imagine, this change deeply worries me for the future of the site, the fanbase, and even outsiders' perceptions of it. If by far the largest furry site considers things like base form Pokemon and Digimon to be underage by default, it could easily distort peoples' ideas of what is and isn't acceptable, even in the face of irrefutable facts.
One such example being, "you know that was an adult who was just changed into a Pokemon; you saw it happen. How could you possibly think that character is a child?"
Ever since I developed an interest in the furry fandom, FA has been my home. I've met a lot of amazing people here, and I could never give enough thanks to those of you who continue to support me and let me know how much you enjoy the kind of content I commission/write. I really can't put a value on what a positive impact that aspect of this site has been for me.
But I have zero loyalty to FA. In the event a more open-minded - and truly safe and inclusive - alternative becomes the community standard to migrate to, I will not hesitate to leave and never look back if fears are realized about the direction for this site and its moderation.
As far as my current plans go, I don't intend to delete anything. There's never been a single underage character involved in any NSFW content I've ever written or commissioned, and there never will be. If a mod intends to grossly misinterpret anything of mine and flag or delete it, that'll tell me everything I need to know about the future of this site.
And for those who may wonder or ask where I may go, it's hard to say right now. InkBunny isn't ideal for me based on their restrictions regarding artwork of human characters, since there are plenty of my commissions that involve Jaki being unclothed as a human mid-transformation (some of which might require the entire transformation process to be cut out in order to post on the site), and I'd really rather not arbitrarily limit the creative process in that regard just to make sure future commissions can be posted there in full. Twitter is admittedly appealing for its lack of restrictions on content, but it is a horrible place to find/search for art or even keep up with a large number of artists and their content, not to mention how deplorable plenty of sections of the community are. And as far as I'm aware, no other sites come close to the user traffic or following FA currently has.
If I make any decisions to post or move elsewhere though, I'll make sure to let everyone know here. Assuming I'm still able to, of course.
Come July, we may not even have an FA any more, after all.
Stay safe friends, don't stress, and be good to yourself. We don't need FA. FA needs us. And if the ones pulling the strings can't realize it, we'll set up home elsewhere.

FA+

FA's been my main, (if not) only platform and it would suck having to let go cause artists are being pushed off of the platform, content deleted and limited!
It's also possible the FA admins are SO paranoid that they don't even want to mention Nintendo by name lest they invite the company's wrath. Nintendo regularly spends hundreds of millions of dollars a year dragging fan creators through the dirt for non-profit projects and fan-art, so I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo is gearing up for an all-out war on ALL of fandom purely out of spite.
here
I think some people use inkbunny in conjunction with dropbox/discord/ect links to things that would be outside the rules as well, which while clunky could be viable if anyone needs to switch temporarily while figuring things out.
*sighs*
Between twitter going to musk, discord pulling the usernames thing, and now this whole FA debacle a lot of social media sites are suddenly shooting themselves in the foot for no reason, I really hope this trend stops soon...
I will of course go wherever other artists go, as I tend to just follow and appreciate art.
It's so absurd I can barely take it seriously. I'm on the lookout for the next best alternatives, but I'm not going to change my drawing/posting habits here.
imo best options would be newgrounds or baraag since neither of them has any notable bans on content from what ive seen, though in baraags case its serching system isnt great but it has the benifit of bein one of the nicest most accepting sites ive been on so far
They're being vague on purpose, and it's pure idiocy. Without concrete examples and concise definitions they're opening the floodgates for mod abuse and report spam by idiots.
the hosting of that sort of content isn't really a big deal compared to a competent staff and proper image tagging IMO
Tell me what makes a Shinx fundamentally different from a cat when it comes to ferals?
I can kinda understand something like a riolu but even then. Far as I’m concerned unless stated otherwise it can be reasonably assumed these Pokémon are adults.
Especially in the context of the tf community where adults become animals it just seems idiotic.
Wish I never had to type this.
