FA is not concerned with emotional maturity.

From the most recent Clarification Journal:
"6. What does aged up mean?
We are not concerned with whether or not a character is emotionally mature, a certain level, or evolved."
In other words, an adult-bodied character can be in a NSFW piece with as childlike of a mind as anyone wants.
Maturity? Agency? Knowledge of risks? Reasonable ability to consent?
Nah, none of that is important to the staff.
That clearly-adult, small-bodied creature over there though?
That's where we draw the line.
I sincerely don't even know where to begin with this. It's like the reverse of the 1000 year-old loli vampire these policy updates keep referring to. I truly can understand why FA felt the need (especially with the IMVU deal) to make that policy and distinction, but when you outright state that mental maturity does not matter, it comes across as ill-conceived at best, and disingenuous at worst.
I think one of the things that irritates me most about this policy, is that in a community that suffers so much already from being misidentified - whether it's one's orientation or gender or any combination of factors that make up one's identity - that now "age" has to be added to that list, when the character you may personify or identify with has any number of characteristics that assist in identifying it as an adult, even though size or proportions may not be one of them.
And even if you don't associate that closely with any characters you own that would fall under that umbrella, if this idea FA has catches on, anyone who has a Pokemon/Digimon/popular franchise creature character that doesn't take intensive liberties with its canonical design will be at risk of being identified as a pedophile.
This is all about outwards appearances and putting on a facade; using the well-being of minors as a guise to appease money-makers at the expense of a significant portion of the community.
Why else would it be perfectly acceptable to create whatever forms of media one would like that utilizes themes one would find in the exploitation of minors, as long as the body looks like that of an adult?
FA doesn't care about protecting kids. The site and staff only care about virtue signaling and looking good for their next big sponsor.
Which is confusing, since you'd think that would mean disallowing certain SFW content involving minors, like non-consensual vore that leads to one's demise, or transformation that includes identity death and ensuing exploitation, or the aftermath of an undesired pregnancy and any form of mistreatment that may accompany or precede it, however SFW these inherently mature topics may be presented.
But you know what the rules say.
"- Minors involved in SFW or non-sexualized interests, such as vore and transformation, are allowed."
To dispel any potential misunderstandings, I have zero issue with peoples' creation of even less "comfy" kinds of fictional content like the ones above. Not everything we see or read is intended to leave us feeling good, and the messages fiction can convey can be powerful. Maybe one way you let out those negative feelings is by making vent art, or spilling your guts out over a blank page (metaphorically though, please). Some of these subjects can be appropriate for minors, and some may not be. That's why it's important to be able to contextualize the reasons and nuance behind those situations, and create safe spaces for even those who aren't adults to explore themselves in.
At this point, I don't know how anyone could possibly think FA might be that place.
I hope you all will join me in wherever I settle on as my next main site. The future may be bleak for FA, but we've always been bigger than this one site, and we'll survive without it.

FA+

Still waiting on my ticket whether my vaporeon with a cute'n silly face is counting as kid or not...
Their level is adult and all gatomons that have been actual characters have been emotionally mature
If FA announces they're partnering up with Gamefreak, ShoPro or Nintendo that's basically theory-confirmed. But we'll see.
Then again, buying out art websites would be a pretty efficient way for Nintendo to purge the internet of most fan art of their I.P. all at once.
This
100% this.
Wouldn't wanna lose your gallery from this bs!! Idk many egg enjoyers besides this shinx and a certain pink bunny :S
Also.. if you check their tweets nowadays, they even called Mew an embryo.. how TF would anyone come to that!?
Look just go to inkbunny. The website is a million times superior anyway, and I've never had to deal with judgement from anyone on there. All the vee's shinxes and pixes you could ever want.
"6. What does aged up mean?

From a moderation view feels more like a premature counter to "Well, they might look younger but they're fully matured mentally".
This whole debacle has been pretty bad so far, and mostly I think that's on the FA mod team not understanding how to talk
I don't think I need to say any more about how that's a fucking issue.
They're Doubling, tripling, and Quadrupling down on it.
But no, no, no WE Clearly don't know what we're talking about.
But what's been urking me and some of my friends about it is
that they have the GALL. THE CONDESENDING TONE.
THE MASSIVE BALLS AND OR OVARIES TO ADD ON "I Deleted My Gallery Too Hastily!"
"Yeaaah, I'm sure people are gonna feel terrible for deleting their stuff in fear of being banned now that we Explaaaained it".
The policy is simply insane.
We have a code word for "somebody took a dump in the sink" at my job because there are so many grown-ass men and women who are so mentally and emotionally bankrupt in the world that it happens often enough to warrant it.
The only thing I wondered when reading that was why they felt any need to specify that at all. And I think Oliver has the right of it: He/they wanted to provide some extra cover for something they weren't convinced would have otherwise made they cut.
holy shit i didn't think it was real
It’s so stupid.
I’ve said it before I’m anti-pedo but what’s the difference between a feral cat and a Shinx? Not really anything.
This is a problem especially for girls. "She looked mature for her age!"
Ugh. All their specifications just made it all creepier. And the pregnancy thing and excuse was insane. I'm sorry but fucking nobody is telling some mature serious non fetish story Abt 13 yr old pregnancy on this site
Pretending the stuff you like is morally ok irl makes me scrutinize it and judge you more
