Acceptable Use Policy 2.7

So apparently I've never created a journal here after being a member for at least twelve years, probably more before I started posting stuff. And I realize my voice on this matter will drown in the din of all the others, but I'll be posting anyway.
In case you haven't realized it yet, FurAffinity is setting itself on a course towards only the cleanest and properest of content being allowed under the guise of political correctness and creating a safe space. In this latest rule change, the one that made me realize what is happening, teen pregnancy may no longer be depicted. To create a safe space, you see.
If you're the child of a teen pregnancy, or if you had a kid while you were still a teen, well ... it's not a safe space for you to talk about it. It's not allowed to exist.
This is a crackdown on anything appearing not-completely-adult to be removed from the site. While I can agree on the protection of real life minors I can, at worst, express distaste of minors in art, and I feel there is a serious grey area as far as the years of puberty are concerned. Aurem, one of the characters I play and have art of is, yes, in the stages of puberty - and I have indeed been called a pedophile for that fact, which is just ridiculous considering how little I like real life kids even in completely normal interactions.
And then there is the issue of the exceptions in the rule. Vore, for example, is fine for minors. The rules do not specify a difference between soft and hard vore in that, either, so it is WITHIN the rules to draw a dingo eating a baby, but it is AGAINST the rules to draw a seventeen year old anthro dog giving the family's pet fourlegged dog a handjob.
We'll be getting back to that family pet in a bit.
So why DO I have a character in puberty? Well, it's simple. It's to relive that part of my life in a different and better setting. He's not getting in with the adults, doesn't get involved in a severely skewed power dynamic, or anything like that. He's awkward, trying to be kind, and dealing with hormones. He's interested in equals at the same approximate stage in life. That is all. For me it's not about seeing a minor having sex; it's about a coming of age story. One better than I got in real life. And before anyone asks, no, didn't get abused or anything. Just didn't have friends, didn't like people much at all, and well ... that time of life just sucked.
There are pictures of him in my gallery. One of them is mildly sexual in nature, in the sense of showing genitalia and a hint of an erection, and yet I always thought the fact that the other character in the picture is his sister was what might get it one day pulled.
His specific species of dragon is my own creation, and I put a lot of thought into it. They go through a two-stage sexual maturity, with the first starting somewhat early so they learn what mating is, how to court, what being in heat feels like, what's nice and what isn't etc., while still not actually fertile. The idea is that when the second maturity sets in and fertility starts most of the curiosity has passed and they'll be more responsible about the serious part of mating. It was very loosely inspired by bonobo monkeys and their particular enjoyment of all things sexual.
A nature documentary about real life bonobo monkeys would have to be censored to be within FurAffinity's rules because even the youngest monkeys engage in some form of sexual play.
Another of my characters, Rayven, is a fourlegged panther, created by genetic manipulation in an attempt to turn various large predator species into sapient status symbols functioning half as pets, half as body guards for people with more money than sense. As part of his upbringing and training one of the scientists took him home as a pet. Rayven and this scientist's daughter got along really well, and when her heat cycles started they started getting along REALLY well. Until she got pregnant and the relationship was discovered. Rayven was kicked out of the program and told he'd be shot on sight if he ever returned.
That entire story is now against FurAffinity's rules. There was no coercion, no unbalanced power dynamic, no grooming or anything. There were just two equals who developed an attraction to each other.
So with that let's get back to the family pet comment. Because that's what's next in the rules changes. While FurAffinity still had a forum I routinely saw threads railing against anyone who enjoyed feral art as being animal rapists and literally worse than Hitler. There is a very vocal group in the furry community who really does not like animals and doesn't want anyone else to like animals, which given what furry IS just boggles my mind. They can enjoy seeing animal genitals on humans but don't want anyone to think they look good on the actual animals they originated on. And once they're done purifying the community of any kind of sexual or romantic emotion before the Arousal Fairy brings them as a gift on your 18th birthday, they will be coming for all the animals next. And animal-adjacents such as dragons and all the pokémon they didn't get banned in this wave.
I have been a member of the furry community for over half my life, and for all the talk of inclusion and safe spaces and openmindedness I have been feeling more and more alienated and labelled as wrong in these past few years. In all that time my tastes haven't changed, but those dictating what is allowed in the furry community have.
