Ironic that it's Target doing this, 'cause clearly they missed the mark on...everything.
Target: "We want to avoid a Bud Light situation."
Also Target: *does literally the exact same thing Bud Light did by chickening out of their quarter-baked "inclusion"*
And these are the companies who are calling US the bigots? Uh-huh, sure...hey, Target, I've got a question: you ever hear of the saying "Practice what you preach."? Mhm...didn't think so. I think the only bright side to this is that I bet Wal-Mart is glad that they're not the punching bag...for now... XD
The funny thing is that if you found this stuff at a Spencer's or off of Redbubble or other independent store fronts, no one would bat an eye or even care, I wager. I guess I shouldn't say Target missed all the marks...they definitely hit a nerve...not that it wasn't justifiable. I foresee bipartisan boycotting of Target now because of this...and just like with Annheuser-Busch, it'll be completely justified. Seriously, it's not the representation that people have a problem with (at least not SENSIBLE people), it's the pathetic backpedal to "win" back their original target consumers, showing without a shadow of a doubt they're dishonest, actually, and don't care about ANYONE. Look, I'm just saying if you're gonna have any moral values, they shouldn't depend on what's most convenient for you as a market trend to profit off of: people can kinda tell when you're just doing it for a publicity stunt...as exemplified here and many MANY others. Bottom line: I don't have a problem with LGBT+ inclusion (I'm bi, myself)...I have a problem with Rainbow Capitalism...ya know...the LEAST sincere form of inclusion...in that it's anything BUT. I also have a problem with parents forcing their choices on their children, but hey...maybe none of my business what parents do; they just shouldn't be surprised when their kids decide they want to kick their parents out of their lives forever for reasons that should be inherently obvious...but hey...if I've learned anything in my 9 years of working retail, it's that, no matter HOW obvious you make something, there will inevitably be those who need and/or want genuine help walking through it...and those who just flat out refuse to be bothered: no skin off my nose if you can't read a sign, Karen.
