Normally I haven't written here for a long time, but this time I would like to do it.

My grandmother passed away yesterday after a long agony due to diabetes. I will spare you the gruesome details of her agony, but I can tell you one thing: Dying of diabetes is truly horrible, especially when you are Mexican and don't have the same resources to afford a good treatment that would have extended my grandmother's life.

Putting that aside, she was not only my grandmother, but also my conversation partner, and was, for many years, the mediator of many of the conflicts that occurred in the family. She was always with us, her children and grandchildren, through thick and thin, and, although she also made mistakes, at least she tried to reconcile with those she once offended.

For me, there will never be another person like her, and I will miss her so much.
