i try to make super nice designs. but ya, interest has been very absent.

I think part of it is a over saturated market. But, if thta is also the case you need to make ads that pop and get attnetion.

Think carnival barker, You want to be loud and energetic. Like Come On come all see sights that have never been seen. once you get them in with that thern mention they are up for adoption.

you don't need to be annoying you just need to be eye catching ^^

I typically don't buy adopts that were made from a base. I want an adopt that is totally unique, so adopts made from bases I avoid

Always love your art but I'm not the adopter type. The people I know who are into them are looking for one off really unique creatures that captivate the imagination in an unusual or unique way.

i make my own bases for adopts cause unique 1 off ones are so much labor i have to price them like a commission almost. and im so nervous about posting higher prices cause im scared ill do all the labor and nobody will want it. leaving me with a huge chunk of effort wasted. which then leaves me to steadily make it cheaper and cheaper till i hate myself for working so hard on.

Dinky does one off adopts for 120-300 and your art is easily at the same quality level but they're all individual an unique like an otterdragon or slugdragon or mechdragon, etc. Total freedom to express your creativity if something catches your eye and you want to try something different. She also does bids on the adopts so its more digestible for someone looking for something cool but dosent have enough for a full commish but if it really strikes someone's fancy they can auto-buy it at a higher price to snag it. Something to consider.

Only issue you may have is that you may not have the same userbase as she has 3x as many watchers as you but that only comes with activity and regularly posting things that get shared by the furs.
I don't have a solution exactly as its not a field that I've ever been in myself, just observations to pass along :)

for me i find the price is to high for 3 colours and an on base adoptable

hmm..i was actually under the impression people thought my super detailed adopts were too hard to recreate, or would be expensive to get commissions of later. and wanted something easier on the eyes

I'm generally not a huge purchaser of adopts, but when I do I like to purchase unique ones.

Also your colors are fine. The problem with many adopts is too many artists make them with too many colors and/or crazy markings and it can be hard on those of us who don't design them to draw it again. I'd say what you're doing in that regard is perfectly fine.

I'd say just make some unique ones? That might be the best bet. A lot of people are on hard times too so it definitely gets in the way of purchasing art. Your art is great though, keep doing what you're doing!

yeah, im always scared of putting in a ton of work on a custom adopt just to have it not sell. then i keep lowering the price till it DOES sell, and i sell it so cheap anyways and then i feel like my time was wasted to i scurry back to the cheaper base adopts

Maybe try doing ones with themes, like some people have done foods or vague styles.
I've also seen people do adopt "eggs" where the egg is a palette/theme and the buyer chooses the anatomy for the palette to go from

Sales have been really slow lately as a whole, but yeah you've got a lot goin against you atm;

- off base seems to sell WAY better
- you haven't been active in a while / don't have the active userbase for them currently, it might be a dry spell for the next few that you upload but then interest should hopefully begin to pick up.
- I am way too poor for adopts atm with convention season hittin in full blast / i'm tryin to get on disability
- I tend to go for designs that are asymmetrical or 'basic but super recognizable'

im honestly surprised at how many people said "bases" as an issue


i see so many sucessful base adopt makers being very sucessful. heck, my sergal bases kept me going for litteral years.
but yeah. i suppose money is tight on everyone atm as well.
