I Am CONFUSED - The YCH People Phenomenon

There is a strange phenomenon I'm noticing where a lot of YCH accounts with very similar styles will just pop up out of nowhere. You can take this as free advertising, but I wanted to make this to document such accounts cause I find it interesting.

Whether its the way the art style is, backgrounds are utilized, or how the facial expressions/finished product looks, all these YCH accounts have a thing in common. At first I thought it to be a single person running them all, with (

being the first 3 I found.) But then as I noticed new accounts springing up like

, my previous assumption felt less possible. It is still a possibility that some of them could be one person, as it would make for a smart business move to run multiple accounts like that for a higher chance in sales, but I don't really like to assume that since it seems rude to combine the possibly hard works of multiple people into one person.

This is not me criticizing any of these accounts or their YCH's. I just wanted to share this cause I found it very interesting. But maybe there isn't some deep mystery to be solved about this. Maybe its as simple to figure out as asking one of the creators. Still interesting though. If I find anymore of these similar YCH accounts after the post of this journal, I will put them below in the updates.

Edit: I've added more artist to the list already established because I already knew them, but either forgot about them, or couldn't find them when making the compilation. I'm also pretty sure I've got it mixed up with which three artist I first came to knew with this "genre" of YCH's, thats how similar they are. lol. I also forgot to mention that some of these accounts upload coincidentally the same time as each other sometimes. And some of them posted at least one NSFW specific YCH all at the same time, which helped support my theory its all one person.

Edit: Another thing I've noticed is that they will always post in sets of two. Not one account posting two things, two accounts posting one thing.

I know of a few that I could swear are the same person not naming names but they all make bases and have a near identical style for eyes and facial features.

Me and my husband are going crazy right now because we've stubbled onto the same thing.
We've been doing some research and we've come to some conclusions.
None of them have any presence outside of FA (no Twitter, Bluesky, Instagram, or Deviantart), they all usually have singular sentences for their bio, and they usually dont fill out the user profile section at all (or if they do, its usually just the species they are).
nearly all of them have also been visited by the same account,

ZEFIR_VIBE who leaves the same copy and paste shouts on their page, sometimes multiple times by accident, without them ever answering back. (though they never respond to shouts)
These all also share some traits in the artwork of an angular grey muscular wolf base character with high cheek bones as their base model, with a heavy blue or orange rim lighting and an even heavier leaning to fantasy YCHs.
It would not surprise me if this turned out to be AI models that are being used to churn out bases, that are then either colored over, or reiterated on with AI once they sell.

Your comment is very appreciated! I heard someone before on Discord tell me its probably AI, but they only had a glance at journal, and I didn't want to believe them. I found the idea of it being AI hard to believe since I never saw any mistakes and I thought it would be impossible for it to be AI if they could fill it in with your character. But after seeing what people can do when they combine AI art with good photoshop skills, I see it as more of a possibility. I'm not someone who really has a distaste towards AI art, but I knew if it came out that their stuff was AI made, it would send a lot of bad flack their way and I didn't want that since I like their YCH's. Something i'm noticing is that Osleepyevil has been around for a long time and has the biggest following accounts, and feels the most "real" of the bunch. It almost makes me wonder if these other accounts are using an AI generator that's trained off their art.

There are a select others that have similar life to them as Osleepy, but they haven't been around as long. Demiamaret, FoxyBashBang, BrightPhoenix. Some accounts that pop up are hit or miss, feeling like decent quality or just a downgraded version of the art style. But if what you wonder is true, wouldn't you think Osleepy would have stated something about their art clearly being stolen by these many accounts?

I actually just reached out to OSleepy to see what they thought about it. They said they have noticed it and have even spoken to a few accounts about it. They attribute it to their art being posted on the social network site VK, and many people drawing inspiration from them. I think that makes sense, to a degree, but something about how many accounts there are and how frequently they're posting feels like there's more to it than that. But, nonetheless, they are aware of it as well!

Super interesting. It also strikes me as odd how many suddenly started popping up. Its not like they took inspiration and some joined, then some joined way later. Its slowed down now, but it felt like everyday I was seeing a new one. Not to mention how they all started posting an NSFW specific YCH around the same exact time.

See, i feel like it's only becoming MORE common. but after talking to a few people it seems like what may be happening is that there is discussion in some Russian art forums and surrounding places that furries are an easy market for quick money. Seems like non-furry artists could just be getting on here to run get-rich-quick YCH dumps where they recycle pieces endlessly for small profit. What i dont understand is the frequency and why they almost ALL seem to lean on the same artist.

Agreed about the frequency and how they all lean on one artist. But if this is originating in Russia, then wouldn't they have to use Boosty? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think most if not all use PayPal.

i've seen some of them using Boosty. It seems like a large amount of the issue is coming from Ukraine as well, which can still use paypal. Makes me wonder about it being a mix of the two.

Well even if they do see furries as easy profit, it still provides us with value. Its like a big entity like Disney looking at everyone as a walking wallet. They may churn out slop with little love these days, but we still find value in some of their content. The same can be said with garbage Youtubers/streamers, they may be bad people, but as long as they still provide the same value to the market, they will still have lots of loyal fans.

Seeing all these bios, I think it's time to put more in mine. I just have no idea what to write. x.x
I never really paid attention to it but you're totally right. They're all same looking. I have no words for it other than: Protect your art at all costs and don't buy from these malevolent seeming accounts! Better to safe one or two months more on an expensive art piece from an actually reputable artist than losing money to some scammers.

I don't have a job, and have no source of income outside of gift money. So saving up for something expensive is not on my to do list. And I don't regret my purchases with these accounts. I've only boughten from FoxyFlash and BestyGlows, but I'd imagine if the other accounts want the same reputation, they will provide. I've also seen some of their finished works for others.
