Happy New Year! Update!

Hey folks. Happy New Year! I'd like to start the year out with a bang. I'm gonna fill you all in on some of the world of my short stories. Introduce you to characters that I realize now aren't well Introduced. I before I started compiling these stories like am now they were all shared amongst me and my friends. They were all well acquainted with the city and characters therein. Mostly in part for them living in and being featured in them.
A main thing to note is despite taking place in the beautiful city I grew up in, featuring real locations, and real people, the setting itself is fictional. Obviously alien parasites never infested my friends. It's fantasy using some of the people and places I know best.
To start out the list there's Fairwater. He's not me. He's my self insert, but he's the fictionalized version of me. A cocky dork who tends to have a quip for everything. He's a skinny blue fox. Friendly and outgoing. I gave him some of my best traits.
Marina, not to be confused with the Marina from my first story, Marina K. The K is for Kathleen. Her middle name. She's my real life roommate, one of my best friends, and a huge supporting role in helping me write what I did. It's a shame it seems like a lot of the writing she helped me with is gone. She's a kitsune. A fox spirit. She is rather plump in her bipedal form, but her quadroped form is immobile. She says how she got all her money, and so big, was from folks giving her offerings. I think she just liked digging through garbage cans lol.
Claire, not to be confused with the Claire from my currently still grammar checking story, is a severely skinny whitish grayish cat. She works in a big office in their sprawling basement archive room. It's always hot as hell down there so she's usually mostly naked and sweaty. God I love visiting her at work, if you're reading this hiiiii ❤️. Her cubicle at the center of the archives is my home away from home. Where I do a lot of my current writing. She has a huge fold out couch that is great for cuddling and naps. She also has a tv dvd player combo and some of the best anime box sets I've seen.
Taylor is the manager/owner of the diner I love to grab breakfast at. Anytime I'm there she gives me a discount. Says it's because I'm a regular, but even the regulars don't get a discount. Personally I think she just likes me. She's overly nice, but is an absolute stick in the mud when it comes to her employees.
Chuck is a crabby elderly bear that works as a cook at Molly’s Diner as well. He doesn't tend to give me a hard time, but he's way too much of a hardass with the young ladies he works with. Since he's worked there since I was a kid I think he sees me as, like, a granddaughter or something. He likes to try to give me advice and once he even bought me a Christmas present. I felt bad that I hadn't gotten him anything and it made it real awkward. He's also the reason I'm publishing these works. He told me way back when, when I wrote these stories, that I should apply to write for our local paper. I think that's the nicest thing he's ever said without saying it in a tone that feels like he's lecturing someone.
Now for locations, and sorry if that list of characters was short. I can't remember all of the characters that made regular appearances in my work.
There's Ogre Co. Not the real name of the place where Claire works. Ya know. Copyright reasons. It's a massive skyscraper in the center of the city. If you ever visit it sticks out like a sore thumb because it's architecture does not fit in at all. It's way too ornate when compared to the lifeless sea of gray buildings.
The Black-out Buffet is... well it's not always where it was before. It's a restaurant that comes and goes. Real talk I tried explaining to my friend Icky that I feel the place is moving. Like a living thing. He told me that businesses go out and come back all the time. "It's a marketing gimmick," he says. A business isn't just gonna leave for three months and then open back up. Especially not when it's always packed solid.
Le Gavage is a way too rich for my blood snooty restaurant. Can't get a reservation there for months. The staff there are insane. Not, like, legally. I mean, for instance, the dude who makes the desserts has a degree in chemistry and he uses that to make food. SCIENCE FOOD!? That, to me, is insane. The serving sizes are huge, the food exotic and possibly illegal, and despite knowing their clientele the staff really don't seem too happy to be serving such big stars.
There's The Slaidrough Public Library. I don't visit there often enough. The librarian, Janice, still holds a grudge against me for a set of books I returned late back in 5th grade. For being damn near 70 she looks really good though.
And finally my home city. Slaidrough. I've always thought it was a dumb name but apparently it was the name of our founder. It's pronounced "sly-drō," and I think even that's kinda dumb. The founder was Thomas Crane Slaidrough iii. Ironically his family were all pelicans. Disowned by his family for marrying a gull, he started a crab fishing business here that got so popular it brought people, and with people came a city, and they named it after him. I'd assume his family was pissed and died sad knowing they couldn't get their hands on his, still thriving, business. Slaidrough is long dead, but his image is immortalized with a statue in the park.
This concludes what relevant information I can remember about the works I finished. I believe there was 15? I hope I can recover all of them. Thanks for reading, and again Happy New Year.
