Every day I become more dissapointed of the Furry fandom
a year ago
Imaging you have been in a fandom for almost 20 years, a fandom that inspired you to draw and create your own stories. With the pass of the years you see that fandom being destroyed from the inside by degenerates and every year they go beyond the absurd becx they thing those acts make them special and important. That fandom could've done great things but now is another laughing stock in internet... What do I do? Stay and make a good example of the potential it has or I just leave? How can I leave something so rooted in my since my childhood.

What has changed is the culture of the Internet. There's a ton more advertisements, spam, and self-promotion going on among content creators, and overall audience participation has gone down. There's far fewer comments from both viewers and artists relative to view counts. Given that the furry community is almost exclusively online and an Internet thing, I think the furry fandom has suffered the most from the social media game -- both in terms of anxiety over popularity and burnout. (Disclaimer: I don't use social media and have no accounts on Twitter or whatnot).
So, yeah, I don't think the behavior of furries has changed much, but I have noticed a sharp drop in engagement in the last few years. The whole fandom is far more businesslike than it used to be and it feels less like a hobby. It's not as fun as it was 20 years ago.
With that said, I'll never leave. My art output has dropped, but I still check in every day and do my part to set a good example. I've just learned to work and participate at my own pace. There are still plenty of the old greybeards around, and I enjoy having a small audience, anyway.
