Where do I begin?
It. was...AMAZING!
For it being our first furry convention, it may seem to many that the question would be, "Why choose this one as your first? Its so big!" Well, when you've gone to one of the biggest Anime Con's in Southern CA for a number of years, you get used to the crowds and chaos that comes with it XD
Yeah. We've both gone to Anime Expo which is HUGE.
But we were so sensory overloaded with all the crazy amounts of fursuits!
To those we met, talked to and hugged and spent time with...YOU GUYS SO ROCKED!
Oh my God. Our morning started Friday morning at 4:30 a.m. of getting up, getting dressed, tossing stuff from one Ren Faire box into another to put together a box for the Con of taking any and all furry stuffs we had to bring with us, our clothes to change into the next day and the ability to carry home any swag we bought and brought home. Got breakfast on the go at a local gas station, coffee at our fave coffee place called 7Brew (sorry Starbucks, this place has our hearts) and then hitting the road!
We would have been at the Con Hotel for Registration with more time before it opened if the road to Atlanta didn't have a point where they had us shut down for almost 45 mins for who knows what reason: Accident? Construction crew trying to get into the area? Who knows.
Moved on, and got to the Con Hotel after we parked in the parking structure at the Hyatt and met some furs on the way to the Registration who were so nice to help us find our way who had been there, done there XD Thank you guys once again!
Once we got in line, got our wristbands registered, it was time to go raid the Con Store.
Guys. I say this with the whole sanity I can muster: YOU DO NOT NEED IT ALL. I take that back. We got stuff from the previous years and stuff from this year, especially at the check out counter XD Stickers, pins, patches.
We got Con Shirts, I got the jacket (I love it!)
We spent WAY too much XD But we're happy.
After we left the Con Store, it was to the Con Floor and OHMYGAWD. SO MANY SUITS. SO MANY PEOPLE! We couldn't take it all in without getting overwhelmed.
We made our way to the Hyena Panel ran by Maul (freaking awesome person, and even more awesome panel!) Even though before it was going on, we ran into the end tail of the Otter Panel. We got to meet some Otter furs and take pics and get hugs!
The hyena panel was amazing getting to sit with others who were interested in hyenas or are hyenas and coloring hyena coloring page badges and getting them laminated to wear on our lanyards. ^^ I love it!
At one point we managed to meet up with our buddy whose slowly become a furry and went to go stand in a LONG LONG LONG waiting line for the Dealer's Den/Artist Alley. Although we were stuck in it for a while, getting hot and just wanting to get in an shop, we ran into Stormi Folf who is such a sweetie! You are such sweet Folf! We finally after much waiting go into the areas and so many awesome artists and then the Vendors....you guys out did yourselves on the stuff you brought to make us drop money on your merch!
We just wish we had had more money to use to spend at the Dealer's Den. There was so much more to buy.
After we finished there, we checked out the side for the Adults. If you know, you know.
After that, I can't recall what we did XD I think I was just that overwhelmed that I can't recall it aside from going to get food in the Food Court and I will say this: "I hardly ate this Con. I was so overly blown away by the scenes of this Con I couldn't focus on my Chick fi la."
As the day wore on, we decided it was time to head to our Hotel we booked away from the Con Hotel.
I don't like expressing my emotions and how weepy I get but I will tell you this...I had not felt the amount of serotonin kick this gave me in just ONE DAY in almost 18 years. AX 2006 was my first Convention for anything and I fell in love with going to this Con after that first year going. It was such an amazing time running into to cosplays of characters I loved and meeting some awesome people. Especially a person we ended up befriending and having stay with us to save them driving back and forth: Kymba. (If you see this, HI!)
Just Day 1 of 2 for FWA gave me that serotonin I had that first time 18 years ago.
I literally was crying explaining that to my husband on the drive to our Hotel. I was just so overly happy and filled with so much joy.
Day 2 came the next morning and all that was running in my head as the day was going on and on was the Doctor Who line of "I don't wanna go..." as I knew the day was going on and on and the time was ticking away to when we would have to make the 2.5 hour car ride home before I had to get up and go to work Sunday morning. Even with that line running in the background, we had an amazing time just watching suits walk by. We even had some furs come and sit with us to chill with their breakfast and Starbucks known as Cupcake and Katy ^^ You ladies were so darn sweet!
I even got to snap a shot with the Dogku and Catsuki which was the highlight of the Con for me because I remember finding their suits on Twitter about a year or so ago and have wanted to meet them in person. When I find out they were gonna be at FWA, it was my mission to find them and ask for a picture ^^. Thank you both for your time and hope you had fun at the events you attended.
The Fursuit Mingle was MASSIVE. It was actually outside the room where they held the Fursuit Photo for the Con.
We finally at one point got to run into Jessi Wolfdog who my hubby had been chatting with (long story how that came to be XD) and we met up with her in her hotel room with friends where I received my FURSUIT TAIL my hubby commissioned from her. I was blown away and she is a super sweet lady. Thank you so much for the time, friendship and for letting me test out the fursuit heads you brought with you for friends to wear ^^. You made my Con. You made me wanna be buried in your Zira head. XD I didn't want to let it go, I wanted to keep suiting in it! But sadly, we would have to let that go and get food shortly after we followed her and some friends to a fursuit gathering they were going to and getting to hang out around with.
Food was had, and then it was time to go and get in line for the Night Time Event for Adults. I won't go into what it was, but if you know of it, then keep it to yourself. I won't explain what it is, or why I won't describe its name I just don't wanna share AD stuff on my page.
The Event was AMAZING. Loud. Packed. And full of entertainment.
Props to the Drag Queens who performed at. You ladies have the energy I wish I had. Those kicks, those jumps and just that energy. Chef's kiss.
We left the Con around 9, 9:30 p.m. and got home after midnight ^^; I passed out the whole ride home and then passed back out when we got home knowing I had to get up at 6 a.m. for work Sunday morning.
Even with the Con over, I'm using the 2 days after we went to recover a bit mentally, and sleep wise ^^;
I've got school to do, but...mind can't focus if I feel like I might be tired.
If you've ever wanted to check out FWA, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Check it out in 2025! Its a Cyberpunk theme with an Event Day on the Thurs of a Furry Takeover of the GA Aquarium (Separate ticket from Registration).
That is all.
