ENDING 1 don't look it up it actually really bothered me a lot

What surprises me is how this is a fan game for a game that hadn't come out yet at the time and is much better than the original.

Oh, she still stops being NB in both, it's just that ending 4 (added in a later patch after enough people complained about ending 3 being the only "good" ending) doesn't have her return to using her birthname and give up all her dreams and goals to become a good little churchgoing tradwife. So, in a way, she's allowed to be herself, except we're still taught that her being NB was a product of negative influences and something she had to grow out of in order to be happy.

I cared little for Snoot game as it was made my 4channers to be cringe.
GBVH was a decent game form what I saw. Granted it is not what was to be but it is a good game. IWHTG is a decent game that was made by competent people as they went legit

The Spiritual Successor to Snoot Game. Made by the same people, but only uses Original Characters (no Goodbye Volcano High characters because of legal BS).

I mean, if they really expected no legal repercussions of any kind (not only for using GVH characters in what basically amounts to a spite game all about "curing" the nonbinary character, but also Spear from Primal just fully lifted from his show, dressed in a suit and put into the game), they were setting themselves up for disappointment, to say the least. The only thing that really protects them in this case is that Snoot Game is free--no kidding they can't keep using those characters if they intend to start making money off their games.

Yeah, no, I have no idea why I wrote "Legal BS". I checked their page, and they knew that they could only use the characters in Snoot Game because it was Parody and because the game was free; but because they wanted to make money with Wani and they didn't want it to be Parody anymore they made it a mostly original thing.

Makes sense, from what I've heard Ending 4 is the De-Facto best ending.
But yeah, I know dick about these games besides the fact that it apparently outpaces GVH by a ton, and that this one is Free while GVH and IWHTG aren't.

Fun fact, ending 4 was only added after mass outcry over ending 3 being the only "good" ending. Originally it was very clear that the goal of the game was instilling enough positive traits into Fang to make her stop being NB and become a tradwife.

Adding to this, just felt like sharing further thoughts for everyone to see, I saved this great comment I made once detailing exactly what's wrong with the game.


They portrayed a nonbinary character as mentally ill and hungry for attention, then created two "good endings" where said character detransitions, one of which has her go back to using her "real" name and become a traditional housewife, and two bad endings where she doesn't and either falls deep into depression and ends up a drug-addicted wreck or shoots up the school before jumping off the roof and killing herself. They directly link mental instability and lack of empathy to the character's gender identity and turn the goal of the game into instilling enough good traits into her to make her stop being NB. They ridicule such identities as being "a phase", going so far as to have the good endings be the ones where Fang isn't NB anymore and the bad endings be the ones where she is.

Fang's identity didn't HAVE to be a component of her mental struggles, but the devs chose to write the story that way. They framed Fang's gender identity as a product of negative origins. They made being nonbinary something that Fang had to get over in order to achieve a good ending. On top of all this, Fang is portrayed as probably the most unstable character in the game, even in comparison to the literal 4channer who deals with constant bouts of self-isolation and paranoia.

This becomes even less excusable when you look at the actual team behind the game. This game was not a labour of love by a single person, it had a whole team developing it, and they had ample opportunity to rework the story into something less one-sided. Not only that, but they were perfectly aware of the reaction to the endings--in fact, the tradwife ending was at first the ONLY good ending, until they added a second one to try and placate the critics, and even that still has Fang stop being NB, she just doesn't stop going by "Fang" or abandon all her interests and dreams. Even if you don't think trans sentiment was a big part of Goodbye Volcano High, it was still very much present, and the dev team behind Snoot Game was at the epicenter of transphobic discourse. They're from 4chan, for fuck's sake, the ultimate hub of societal rejects who unironically think they're the fucking Ubermensch and openly view trans women as the ugliest people alive. Hell, it should say enough that they went as far as changing Fang's Arabic birthname into a more white-sounding one and altered her parents into a lame Metroid reference.

And yes, nonbinary falls into the transgender category too--to be transgender is to not identify as the gender you were born with, including people who don't strongly feel like they identify as either.

Framing trans identities as products of past trauma or grooming is yet another alt-right reactionary talking point. It's a way of invalidating these identities by ascribing "twisted" origins to them so they can fruitlessly try to convince trans people to stop being trans. It's no different than how they think sex reassignment surgery leads to a lifetime of agonizing pain and deep regret, or how they seem to believe simply BEING trans means you're going to commit suicide, not even understanding what the "41%" they smugly crow about means, or how they constantly describe trans women as "men who chop their dicks off". Even if you think the reactionary elements of the game weren't intentional and a direct slam against KO_OP (which they were), that doesn't excuse them. If you have a game where the only nonbinary character is portrayed as mentally unstable, socially maladjusted and on the verge of committing a mass shooting, and that character's eventual positive development leads to them detransitioning, how do you think that's gonna come off to people? If your answer is anything other than "Oh jeez, yeah, that's pretty bad", you're kinda full of shit.

I feel like I shouldn't even have to explain this, it's a pretty simple conclusion to draw. The devs frequent 4chan, the game's only NB character is framed as an unstable, confused, empathy-lacking attention seeker, said character is stated to have been pressured into her identity by a catoonishly sinister friend with selfish motives (which is another prominent alt-right idea about trans people, this notion that none of them would be trans if they weren't convinced to by the internet or forced to by some mythical evil homo rapist pedophile drag queen or some shit), and the good endings both involve this character detransitioning while both bad endings don't. If this wasn't intentionally transphobic, then that means the devs are just fucking stupid.

i wouldn't put it past some folk cos there are people that even i and MANY others know personally who will try to "fix" you and treats transitioning as cringe or incorrect or whatever.

i know IVE BEEN CONFUSED, i still am, i get violent about it and i fucking want a shoulder to lean on a lot because i'm so used to being pushed away and most often only acknowledged when i come across as unfavorable or not as beneficial to another
