Photoshop Rant
So as an artist, I may not be the biggest influence on any social media or art hosting platform, but I feel it's my responsibility on this to make some form of statement. So for those of you who do not know. Adobe has put a change in place to their Terms of Service that they may access and use your content not just the content that you make, but anything you'd upload to their cloud.
Now granted I don't really use photoshop so I've sort of avoided my art being held hostage as I am adamantly against forced cloud data storage. But this still needs to be said.
So there are a lot of problems with this to break down so I'm going to cut it into smaller pieces.
1.) You are not able to access and delete your files UNLESS you agree to their terms of service.
In my opinion this should be an anti-trust lawsuit on it's own. This sort of thing should be unenforceable and illegal for ANY service. That any data or information you entrust the service with be locked behind an EULA whenever they should change it. Now if they say for example said "If you choose not to agree with this we'll automatically delete your data" that would be a bit better.
2.) I don't agree with surrender of my data for "moderation purposes"
It is my own strong belief that what you make is and should remain PRIVATE, unless you are sharing it publicly to use.
Take being a computer repair man for example, unless under some crazy criminal shit [say you found records of a murder or something] as you fixed a computer, it is the general expectation from your service that they not share or expose any information given, nor do I think it's their place or authority to sift through your data to see IF you did it with/without reason to believe you did. This is borderline vigilantism in my opinion. Photoshop should be and should've remained a tool, not a service, a tool.
So from this day forward indefinitely I will not be using any of Adobe's products that will require such surrendering of rights, and I strongly urge you artists to do the same.
If you are unaware of this please do your own research but here's a place to start https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXxMCm941WA
And please spread the word, who knows maybe if we outcry loud enough they might backtrack on it.
Whatever it is, I will be optimistic and cross my fingers that we can avert this in some way shape or form be it by convincing thing this is wrong, or by adapting to another program.
Let's hope that this can be a baby step at least in the right direction towards taking control of our lives back.
IDK how many of you care, or will disagree with me on it, but I feel this is a HUGE deal and we should all be very angry about it.
In either case, thank you all for reading and I hope you all have a wonderful day evening week and so on.

I have been laughed at many times for continuing to use CS6. "LOL why do you use such an old program. LOL why don't you upgrade??" Well, I still use CS6 and I have not upgraded because, the moment I heard about "clouds" and "cloud software", I bowed out. I was told the new versions were only available "in the cloud". I am very glad I avoided both "the cloud" and the naïve comments of adult children who wonder why I "still use an OLD program LOLOL". It makes me glad that I am me and not them, especially today as they finally realize what it is that they've trusted.
I'm also currently moving to Krita anyway, because fuck Adobe.
If this shtick keeps catching on, we'll be living in a padded room with a microwave that requires an internet connection to reheat our Wednesday evening impossible imitation crabmeat.
If you don't know what Arbitration is, it's a thing in the U.S. where the consumer can't go to a court of law, but must go to the lawyers of the company for any legal action. If Roku forces spyware on an update, I can't legally fight it in a court of law, I need to go to them and listen to a judge they buy, who's partial to the company that pays for them. Discord in the U.S. has done the same thing to all users with a 30 day opt out time you need to email them about, and that time has already passed.
Every passing day, I feel like I'm getting placed in a tighter box. That I can't do anything my way, but some cooperation's way. That my future anything could be impacted by board members I'll never speak with who can chose to ruin my life. I'm worried that in 20 years, I'm going to have to write ad scripts because some company said "All users now much work for us" and no court in the states will allow me to challenge legally complying slavery.
The whole thing is dumb and concerning, and it's a trend I'm seeing get worse every day.
